Apr 28, 2019 - Fuerte Amador, Panama

The farther south we got, the hotter it got. And, of course, being on the coast it was humid. During our tour in Panama City it was 95 with 75% humidity. We docked in Fuerte Amador to sightsee in Panama City. We were surprised at the modern, big city atmosphere of Panama City. It is one of the largest banking centers in the world. Later that evening our ship went out into the bay and waited for our turn to enter the Panama Canal locks the next morning.

Dec 18, 2018 - Panama Canal

Panama Canal 86, mostly sunny and humid This was the day. The reason I signed us on to sail this cruise. My bucket list for a few years. I remember my father and I talking about it years before he passed. “Would be something to see” I remember him saying. I’ve been looking forward to this day since I booked it nearly a year ago. I did some research and watched a few videos. The Princess brochure was everything I dreamed it would be. Of course folio photos do wonders. Up close in the canal with a huge tanker in the lock before us and one in...

Our 5 week adventure

Dec 17, 2018 - Puerto Amador, Panama

Panama 84, mostly sunny and a little humid This morning we were up by 7:00am for our excursion get-together at 7:30. Our ride through Panama City area was both impressive & progressive as well as sad when we saw the slum areas on the outskirts. But our tour was not about that. We were taken to an area on Lake Gatún where we met our boat ride. Along the way we were on the look out for the different monkey species in the area. The boats would be taken right up to the edge of shore where the guides called the monkeys in and offered bananas....

Our 5 week adventure

Oct 10, 2010 - Fuerte Amador, Panama

A Day at Fuerte Amador, Panama We are 20 minutes from the capital of Panama, Panama City (didn’t go there) I looks like the skyline of any huge city. We arrived at 10:00 AM and anchored off Fuerte Amador, which is basically a marina with million dollar yachts and restaurants. We took the tender from the ship to the port. It was about a ten-minute ride, in the lifeboat. Judy and I walked about a mile along a causeway connecting 3 islands. It was so hot, I thought I would melt. We stopped for a margarita and walked back to the duty free...

Kathy' Cruise

Jan 8, 2008 - Fuerte Amador (Panama City), Panama

1/8 - 1/9 On the eighth we went from the Atlantic to Pacific ocean through the Panama Canal. What a great trip that was. We entered Limon Bay about 5:00 AM and started into Gatum Locks (a set of three locks) at about 7:00 AM. These locks raised the ship 85 feet and fed us into Gatum Lake. Gatum Lake is man-made and supplies fresh water for the canal and all its locks. It took us approximately 8 hours to cross Gatum Lake and follow the canal to the next lock, Pedro Migual. This lock is a single set which dropped us about 25 feet. Another two...
