We sailed up Sognefjord, 110 miles in length and the longest of all the fjords in Norway, to reach Flam. The sheer mountain walls climb twice as high as the 1,500 foot width of this, the narrowest of all fjords. It was foggy as we came in but the clouds broke up and the sun came out later in the morning. We booked a tour on the train up the mountain to Vatnahalsen and then a hike down to Berekvam to board the train back to Flam. Jun 29, 2010 - Blog on hold
Just a quick update. We've had some sad news today; Nick's dad John is very poorly and so we are heading back to the UK so Nick can be with him. We're heading south in the morning, planning to drive to Calais by Friday, get Doug to the vet on Saturday, and we're booked on the ferry on Sunday lunchtime. So, blog and big trip on hold for time being. Send out love and positive thoughts for John and Vivien.........

Ok class, if I were to say “Telemark” what would you think of? I’ll bet if you said anything at all it had something to do with nuclear bombs, heavy water, and a certain WW2 film. We are heading to the west coast, and we knew we wanted to break the journey up on the way over to Stavanger, and the only name we recognised on the map was Telemark. Yes, because of the film.
