The ride along the river to El Castillo was stunning. I'd say it felt Amazon like, but I've haven't been down the amazon yet. It took 3 hours and it rained most of the way. As we rounded the bend all 3 non locals on board had cameras ready for the gorgeous photos of the town and fortress on the hill. I checked into a nice clean hotel and went and had a great lunch by the river. the fort is closed for lunchtime so I had to bade my time before entering it. I was charged C$25 for entry and C$37 to take photos........ Anyway I think i got some...

Oct 4, 2007 - The castle in the jungle
We slept until 5:30, when a marching band began practice on the street outside, the tv went on in the hall, a guy began hammering on something in the room next door, and two guys started arguing down the hall. I'm not kidding. We emerged from our dark hole and wandered down to the waterfront, where we found a small comedor (a kind of eating joint that serves simple food) and sat down.
