NZ is home to some of the biggest trees in the world, so of course we had to see them, they're called Kauri's and some of the last remaining ones are up to 2000 years old and real whoppers! We left Auckland, having picked up our trusty chariot and struck out for the north to see these beasts! Decided to pitch at a Department of Conversation (DOC) site right in the middle of The Waipoua Forest. Bit of a interesting first night under canvass as freezing cold and 100's of midgies decided to join us.. Fun! We couldn't walk the Yakas Trail due...
