Fresh from the buzz of our skydive, we decided to let the feeling linger a little longer with a little mountain trek adventure. The Tongorio crossing is often referred to as "the best one day walk in New Zealand," and in a place with as many famous treks including the Milford Trek, that is impressive. We had to see for ourselves. This is definitely among the top day hikes we've ever done. Mar 5, 2006 - TAUPO x 2!!!!!
Oh man, ya gotta love Taupo, and the return to the begining of the ends. I'd love to explain what that means to you all, but you'd never understand. That was more for the epole who are checkingthis site who I traveled the North Island with. Seriously though, you have to love Taupo. I was supposed to stay 3 nights, so i could go to Huka Falls, and the natural hots springs but L.J was nice enough to drive us there when we got in to Taupo becuase he is the best driver ever. Jan 21, 2006 - Sky Diving!!!!!
Alright so I actually did it... can you believe it, because I can't. I jumped, well the guy I was strapped to fell out, but that is as close as you can get to jumping yourself. I jumped from 12 000 feet which is a pretty standard jump, with a 45 second free fall. I never actually realiazed how long 45 seconds was untill I was free falling from that high. I got the best view you can possibly get of lake taupo, and it was insane! The guys who jump with you jump about 10 times a day, so they play around with the first timers a lot.
