Mar 6th 2009 Queenstown This morning we walked into town and took the Gondola up to an amazing view of Queenstown, a gentle ride up and down and we were able to watch the daring luge down the hill. ... Mar 5th 2009 Fox Glacier to Queenstown Today we travelled through amazing changes of scenery – from dense rainforest, pristine lakes, mountains, & rivers (empty river beds that will be raging when the snow melts on the mountains in the Spring) . ... We arrived at our hotel in Queenstown which had a wonderful view onto beautiful blue Lake Wakatipu and the Alps behind it - Incredible!!!!! Dinner at Captains Restaurant – lamb chops and Groper (as they call it) both delicious. ...

Mar 5, 2009 - 8 hours drive to Queenstown!
Today we had a loooooooooooooooooooooooong drive! but never have we seen scenery like it! Every time we drove round a corner we were mouths wide open "this is amazing!" then you drive round another corner and it just changes and goes on and on and on and it is amazing! The South Island really is the most beautiful place I have ever seen! We made quite a few photo stops today! especially when we saw the snow capped mountains behind the piercing blue lake! it is like another world to me. Queenstown is surrounded by ... alpine mountains, it has a massive lake and to me is what I imagined a ski town to look like (probably has something to do with it being a ski town in the winter!) If you don't know about Queenstown it is extreme-ville! ...

We were up and at ‘em the next morning as we were driving to Queenstown. ... It was like Peter Kay’s “Car’s Gone” sketch where Emma was doing the slow motion run / walk !!) We arrived in Queenstown around 2pm, as the sun started to shine. ... I bribed the girls to stay a little longer (a G&T and a couple of apple juices normally do the trick !) Roisin finished her G&T and off we went to discover Queenstown and empty our wallets on adventure sports !!! Had a bite to eat in town, then Martin (tried to) put the girls to bed while I went for a run along Lake Wakatipu that Queenstown sits beside. ... ) We then drove to the gondola in Queenstown, which took us up to the Skyline restaurant, summer luge (toboggan) and BUNGY JUMP! Martin had booked his jump at 3. ... Views over Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu were beautiful. ...

Hi Everybody, Yesterday we attempted to catch a peek at the Fox and Franz glaciers on our way to Haast but unfortunately the rain and clouds prevented us from seeing them. Today we left Haast early in the morning and began the drive to Queenstown. ... The weather was perfect and we made it to queenstown in 3 hours just in time to hop onto a jet boat ride through the shotover river canyon. ... In Te Anau machen wir nur kurz Halt für das Internet und zum Einkaufen und fahren dann weiter nach Queenstown, der neuseeländischen "Hauptstadt des Abenteuers", wie sie sich selber gern bezeichnet. ...
