I arrived in Auckland shortly after 6am and was at the house before nine. The girls have all grown so much, especially little Emma who has also "grown up". At two and a half, she is definitely not a baby any more. Adrian is not here. He started a new job in Melbourne a couple of weeks ago, so unfortunately, I won't get to see him this year. Tanya and the girls will join him in Australia as soon as the house is sold. Jun 5, 2005 - Waitangi Treaty Grounds and back to Auckland

After not getting the greatest nights sleep we had to check out by 10am. We made our way up to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds just up the road where the Maori treaty was signed with the British Empire in the 1840, it was really interesting and a great day for it. We saw a film to tell us all about it and then walked round and saw a replica Maori Waka canoe similar to the one used by the first Maori's to arrive on New Zealand from Tahiti. We drove the 5-hour journey from Auckland to Paihia in the Bay of Islands (North) and managed to get a studio unit (after some negotiation) within budget, with a spa, pool and free bikes. We booked a couple of trips and then chilled for the rest of the day/

May 9, 2005 - Arriving in New Zealand

We woke at 6 am ready for our flights and got a cab to the airport. My flight was an hour after Ruth's so I chilled and had an hour on the internet, and then boarded my flight. When I arrived at the airport and got through customs, Ruth was waiting for me and after watching so many emotional reunions from other passengers she couldn't resist taking the Mick and throwing her arms around me and making a fuss like we hadn't seen each other in years.
