We're now nearly at the end of our NZ bit of the trip. We've just travelled on stopping to take loads of pictures of Mount Cook from all angles & many pics of lakes - all with stunning blue water from the glaciers. Yesterday we took a walk down to a bay where penguins nest & did see 2 wandering down to the water - but too far to take a photo. We also saw a few more seals but from a distant view point. Oct 6, 2004 - Lake Tekapo

Today, we made our way down to the replacement for Makarora, Lake Tekapo. It's situated down near Mount Cook, right out in the wilderness. Its beautiful, and I really mean that. We were staying at the lakeside lodge, which was literally on the lakeside, and the views were amazing. From our hostel, we could see the lake, which is so blue it looks tropical, but you know if you jump into it, you'll come out with icicles on your bum!!
