Jan 7, 2008 - Our First Farm Visit (by Lesa)

We headed out for our first full day in the country and our first stop was to visit Ged Williams - contractor, consultant, farmer, grape grower! We climbed a hill to look down over the vineyard and in a few hours of lecture - we learned a bit about growing grapes in Canterbury - primarily Pinot Noir and Riesling grapes! We were caught in a 'norwester with some rain, but the students dragged out their raincoats and continued to ask lots of great questions! We boarded the bus again and continued north to The Acheron - a hill country farm (2000 acres, 5000 sheep) we've visited on every program. We headed out for our first full day in the country and our first stop was to visit Ged Williams - contractor, consultant, farmer, grape grower!
