Kelvin and I got up at 5:15am, leaving the boys sleeping and joined the procession of people heading on up to Poon Hill (3210m) in the dark, to watch the sunrise over the mountain peaks. It took around 40mins to get to the top where we quickly bought hot drinks, as much to quench the thirst as to keep us warm. Over about half an hour we watched the colours spread from the horizon in the back, to eventually reach the tops of the peaks, it was quite beautiful. Nov 5, 2013 - ABC Trek Day 1 - Nayapul to Tikhedunhga

After a tasty breakfast at the Old Inn, the staff sent us off with a tika on our foreheads, a scarf around our necks and a blessing for Diwali. Our driver picked us up and we set off for the 2 hour drive to Nayapul, a small village just outside of the city of Pokhara and the starting point for our trek. There we said goodbye to our driver and met our guide, Lakpa and 2 porters, Lakpa and Pimba. Oct 30, 2013 - Let The Trekking Begin!

After breakfast it was back on the bus for an hour and a half trip up to the start of our trek trail. After leaving the bus the porters took charge of our large bags with the gear that we didn't need during the day & we hoisted our personal rucksacks & set off, led by our guide. We were promised slow, gentle up & down start for our first day. The scenery was already quite spectacular as we had come straight up into the mountains.
