I had kept pretty quiet about how sore my body - well ankle and hip - were yesterday but I was really concerned how I would do today and consequently going to the summit. We had a late wake up because it wasn't going to be too long of a day. We ate our breakfast then we had to again put all the gear we needed for the summit in one duffel bag per tent and the rest of our gear in the other to stay here since we'd be coming back to this camp site after the summit. Oct 25, 2015 - Day 19: Body Woes (Island Peak Base Camp - Rest Day)

Thankfully today was a rest day so we slept in and were extremely lazy and unlike the rest day after Mera there was no training planned. The sun was shining and it was warm(ish) so we did some laundry - it was really needed at this stage and knowing you'd be able to put on a fresh pair of undies for the final summit of the trip was delightful. I put my sleeping bag out in the sun for some airing out as well - even though I am in a sleep sheet inside the bag, it was still getting pretty smelly. Since we were able to wipe ourselves down...

Oct 24, 2015 - Day 18: This Should Replace Jail as Punishment for Convicts (Crossing Amphu Labsta Pass 5,845m)

We had a great cake for Mark's birthday and I would have indulged in a second piece but I knew that with the cakes, the porters don't get a piece until we are finished so wanted to leave more for them. We had a 5:00am wake up this morning and were warned that it would a be a 9-10 hour hard day - we had to carry our harness, helmet, crampons plus regular gear - the double boots were being carried to crampon point for us and then our trekking boots would be taken down the other side and left for us so we could change back into those when we...
