Oct 2, 2005 - Everest to Nepal

Weather - I think you get the idea by now - cold and sunny.. Location going down hill fast.. Drive is excellent from everest descend through the himalya 5200m to 800m in 30km thats a big gradient.. Road is actually more like a mountain track big enough for trucks. Its frequently closed due to landslides (often caused by trucks triggering the slip..) Most of the road has a 300/400m drop into a gorge.. quite glad to get to the bottom - but great drive.. Stayed at the "last resort" on the way down, very relaxed spot - like a safari camp...

Aug 4, 2005 - Dhulikhel - NEPAL

We left Tibet with mixed emotions; awe at the raw, dramatic landscape, wonder at the magical monastaries, admiration for the rural Tibetans struggling on as ever before, disgust at the Chinese' treatment of Tibet and pity for the Tibetans who are already being corrupted by the Chinese obsession for chasing dollars at whatever cost. This certainly has been an educational and emotional part of the trip. I fear in a few years time when the paved roads around the sacred mountains are finished and the train link to China is complete(a 1000...
