We flew from Pokhara to Jomsom early in the morning. Flights can only make it to Jomsom before the wind becomes too strong at about noon. After a tea break, we headed North, out of town. The two hour trek to Kagbeni follows a river bed that was very wide and (this late in the fall) mostly dry. The river is but a small channel through the rock field. Come spring and the snow melt, this scene is VERY different! Our path took us along the river flat and sometimes up a bit on the steep valley walls. We frequently crossed small streams flowing...

Nov 16, 2010 - Annapurna Circuit Trek: Tag 12: Muktinath - Jomson - Flug nach Pokhara
Nachdem wir Patrizias 31iger im Beisein von Irene in Suedafrika feiern konnten, schien nun ich an der Reihe zu sein. Den hiesigen Gegebenheiten entsprechend, war ich komplett ueberrascht, von einer kleinen Geburtstagstorte mit 3 Kerzen begruesst zu werden. Wo hatte Patrizia die bloss aufgetrieben. Vielen Dank ;-) ! So wuenschte ich mir zum 30iger Folgendes: saubere Kleider, keine 2 Tage in den viel zu kleinen Bussen und das tolle Seeklima Pokharas. Wir warteten also schon frueh morgens beim Jeepstand. Die Devise hier: es faehrt 1 Jeep nach...

Muktinath is a pilgrimage destination for people from three religions – Hinduism, Buddhism, and Christianity. Early in the morning, we paid a visit to the temple. The compound was quite large, but the temple itself was quite small. Water flows from 108 outlets surrounding the main temple. Pilgrims bathe in these, symbolic of bathing in 108 rivers.
