Ein sehr angenehmer sonniger Tag mit atemberaubend schoenen Bergpanoramen. Bis jetzt finden wir den Trek nicht anstrengend, auch die anfangs uns nahegelegte Variante, immer moeglichst frueh loszugehen, befolgen wir bis jetzt nicht, da es immer genuegend Unterkunftsmoeglichkeiten gibt. Alle Unterkuenfte kosten ueberall gleich 2 Euro pro Zimmer und Nacht, die Standards variieren nur minim. Unabdingbar ist unsre Taschenlampe, eigenes Klopapier sowie Utensilien um die Loecher in der Pappwand zum naechsten Zimmerbewohner zu stopfen. Heute gabs...

It was bitterly cold throughout the night. The temperatures might have dropped to freezing. But I had no bad dreams. As I wake up, my hands refuse to move. I peek out of the window and see the sun rise over Manaslu. It’s a beautiful view as light rays of different intensity pierce though different sections of the mountain. It looks as if a large source of light is about to burst open and a behemoth is holding it in its place. Annapurna Circuit

Apr 2, 2008 - Chame to Manang (days 5- 9)

Just a quick note to let everyone know we're doing great, and surviving the trek. It's amazing - 6 or so hours a day (so far), and gaining lots of altitude. We're at 2800 meters tonight, in a place called Chame, which actually has internet service (surprisingly even quicker than Laos...) We'll only get one or two more chances to check in and plot our spots over the next 18 days, but we'll be going over the highest pass (Thorung La, at 5400 meters), and visiting the highest lake (Tilicho Lake) in the world.
