We spent 6 nights in Etosha at 3 different restcamps run by the park. The camps were built in the 60's and haven't been updated since. They were clean enough, and more importantly, air-conditioned. Each camp has a small general store and a restaurant, where we ate buffet dinners every night. Each camp also has a watering hole which is floodlit at night where you can sometimes see animals coming to drink. The camps gates are only open from sunrise to sunset, and marked with clocks showing that if you get back too late you will be locked...

Dec 27, 2005 - Etosha National Park Day 10-11 Overland

Day 10-11 Overland: we finally made it to Etosha for opportunities to do some game viewing. The campgrounds floodlit waterhole gave us a wonderful night's experience. As we sat quietly admiring the few kudus and springboks who sipped quietly at the water, we noticed 5 forms materializing out of the horizon. Five black rhinos came to drink, and everyone else moved out of the way. We all watched for an hour as these creatures drank their fill.
