Auch heute haben wir auf unserem Weg von einem Campingplatz zum naechsten wieder total viele Tiere gesehen, heute waren unter anderem Hyaenen und ein Geier dabei, aber auch Schakale. Ein grosses Highlight hatte aber auch dieser Tag, als wir eine Geparden Mutter mit ihrem Jungen gesehen haben. Die beiden wanderten von einer Seite der Strasse auf die andere und dann ganz in Ruhe wieder zurueck. Abend war ich dann noch auf einer Nachttour, was erstmal was ganz anderes ist, weil andere Tiere draussen sind, aber ausserdem duerfen Nachts nur...

Deike in Afrika 2012

May 3, 2012 - An all day game drive

Today we have an all day game drive. We are actually transferring to another camp on the other side of the park. We see lots of the above mentioned animals before coming across a male lion with his pride. We only see his head briefly before he lies down in the grass, but we can see his harem quite clearly. We watch for a while, one of the lionesses arrives and is checked out by the others. While watching the lions we spy two white rhino walking are in the distance – one is quite large. Dec 11, 2007 - Namutoni rest camp, Etosha National Park - Namibia

Tuesday (10th) 11th Dec Namutoni Rest Camp, Etosha I get up for sunrise at the magical waterhole viewing deck - which attracts a host of different African animals in Etosha - Namibia's premier nature reserve. We are staying at a fortress camp known as Namutoni. Our sheltered viewing deck is complete with chairs and shading and we are protected by a small electric fence and a waist high stone wall - which I assure you, does not always feel sufficient. Apart from a couple of loo and food breaks, I spend the entire day at the viewing deck....
