Aug 1, 2012 - Day 38 Maputo to Xai Xai Paradise Villa

Early Breakfast at Blue Anchor enabled us to reach Xai Xai so we could enjoy most of the day on the beach and what a beach as the pictures shows – We had massive waves and was thrown around in those like nothing else. The children really had a good time We stayed in a nice villa just behind the dunes and Peter had made friends with the owner so we enjoyed a nice early dinner whale watching from the restaurant deck overlooking the sea. The local owner and his friend kept the children busy teaching them how to play pool – We all had...

Jun 29, 2009 - Kruger National Park

Kruger Park, home to 145+ species that live on over 2 million hectres of land (and 16 eco zones) and one crappy camp site! we stayed at the Punda Maria camp, which is within the Limpopo National Park within Kruger. I was so amped about Kruger because all i heard about it was that it was just so beautiful and big, maybe it was just the area that we were in but the camping was lack luster, but I did get to see some animals! Buffalo in particular as I have seen the other 4/5 of the Big 5 (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, buffalo) on a truck...

Aug 18, 2008 - Mozambique

Dec 2, 2007 - Kruger Park

Early morning again... Wake up and be ready to go by 5am that's what we were told so that's what we did. Despite sleeping on a floor that was made of cow dung at the cultural village we were all well rested( I think the beers helped). So we were off to Kruger Park. As soon as we entered the park gates we saw an elephant, zebra, wilderbeast and some impala. When we arrived at the campsite we met our guide and the other girl that would be touring with us that day, both of them were very nice people. The game drives start at roughly 6am and...

Apr 18, 2007 - Cottaging Impala & cheating with cheetahs

A week after the Easter Vortex party I was at a party of quite a different sort, the Birthday of Matt and Vicky's son Finn (1 of 3 boys). He was four years old and I think the last time I was at a kids party was one of my own many (many) years ago. Quite the different experience to the week before, sugar highs from too much cake, bouncy castles, ponies and pass the parcel. It was fun and all set in the lovely garden of their house with a spectacular view of table mountain. I was spectacularly bad at applying the temporary tattoos to the...
