Chefchaouen is in the heart of the Rif Mountains and happens to be in a region that is lovingly known for being the hash capital of the world. The name Reefer was cleverly derived from this region and in "smoking from the Rif" to "lets smoke a riffer" to "where's the Reefer, man". The new slang was born. That's not true but I can't think of a better possibility can you? May 31, 2005 - Reaching Africa

Well actually we know we are still doing the easy bit : after the normal cutoms red tape at Ceuta we reached the delightfull northern city of Chefchaouen at the border of the rif moutains. All Blue and whitewashed blue. On the other hand we start to appreciate the distance and the much much tougher sahara/mauritania bit starts to be a bit daunting... Anyway for the time being we enjoy this easy part and the friends we met in Casablanca offered the opportunity to raise up our alcohol level at the typically marooccan Brasserie...
