Aug 11, 2005 - Actual Information

Ok, so instead of ranting about computers, how about I just tell you whats been going on? Sounds like a plan. The ferry to Athens from Santorini was 8 hours, followed by a 3 hour bus ride, topped off with 32 hours of ferry again, to get us to Venice. The prospect of spending 43 hours confined in transit was daunting, but I really enjoyed every moment of it. The 8 hour ferry was spent playing crazy eights with some quite racy cards that had little boys looking over our shoulders the whole trip. The bus ride went fast because a young girl...

after a delicious granoa breakfast and free unlimited coffee we were off for day trip to Eze Village, Cap Dáil and Monaco. before we left we ran into 2 sisters from Arizona who were on our Ireland trip. it is such a small world. Eze Village is truly a medieval town set high up on a mountain. the short bus ride from Nice wound through the mountains while looking down on steep cliffs plunging to the bright blue mediterranean below! we walked around the village and headed to the top where we spent time in the exotic garden. they had lots of...

May 9, 2005 - Monte Carlo

The bane of the easyCruiser is uncertainty. You never quite know... Which port are we going to? When will we get there? When will we be able to get off the boat? As such, having an infinite reserve of patience can be helpful. Today's port was Monaco. We got up a bit early, and had some snacks at the cafe. Sitting out on the deck, we got to watch as everyone began to assemble in anticipation of getting off the boat. The hot tub was filled this morning. With a boatload of journalists aching for photo ops, a hot tub proved too much to resist....

Wandering in Europe

May 3, 2005 - Monte Carlo, Monaco

Monaco.... (In sorority girl accent) Woah. I'm so rich that I went to Monte Carlo in Monaco. And I'm too rich for France so I'll just go to Monte Carlo instead, which is really in France but pretends to be seperate by having a prince and therefore being a principality. And I'm so rich that I'll spend 45 minutes there before realizing that a coke costs 23 dollars and run away as fast as my Lamborbentley can take me to the next city so far away it's not even in France. Woah, I'm so rich that Monaco has lots of yachts and cruise ships in its...

Apr 12, 2005 - Day 17 - Monaco

So today we woke up and got ready to head to Monaco for a day trip. We had another cloudy, cool day, but today was relatively dry. Much to our surprise, Monaco is very different from Nice. It is filled with money and royalty. When we got off the train and had no idea where to go, but we managed to find a bunch of beautiful gardens up on this hill top. It was filled with statues and gardens - so clean! We had some lunch on a park bench overlooking the Mediterranean. We realized we were close to the Royal Palace, but we were unable to get an...

Apr 10, 2005 - Monte Carlo: The Town, Tennis, and Being a Kid Again

What would happen if La Jolla inheirited a zillion dollars, appointed a king, and decided to become its own country? It would be Monte Carlo. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Walking down the streets of Monte Carlo is more like walking through the halls of Sears for the Rich and Famous. One strip of sidewalk in Monte Carlo puts any exotic Car dealership in the world to shame. Only in Monaco is the newest BMW considered a "poor man's Car." The harbor is littered with brand new...

Mar 4, 2005 - Monaco

Monaco is a bit like Disneyland for the rich and famous, what with the Ferrari's and Rolls' all around. The yachts in the harbor were ungodly big and the stores lining the streets flamed unbelievably high prices. I won five euro in a casino and cashed out! It was perfect. I ran around all day with a girl from California I had met in Barcelona and saw on the platform in Nice. She is traveling for three months and has 7 pairs of shoes with her... and over 20 shirts. I almost lost my mind when she told me this. Anyways, we had quite a fun...

Sep 1, 2004 - French Riveria - Day 10

We had a free day again today. A group of us decided we would go and lounge on the beach at Cannes, home to the rich and famous. It was a beautiful day with the temperature in the 30s. We really went all out and paid for a private beach with loungers and umbrellas ohhh and a cabana boy who would run around for everyone so you had a menu and just put your hand in the air if you wanted anything.... brilliant!!! We had fruit cocktails and pina coladas and had plenty of swims in the medeteranian sea... so nice to be in the water and I even got...
