Sep 10, 2010 - Borracho

Borracho means drunk in spanish. It is my title because... I want to portray the general openness I find here. I just had a beautiful encounter with 5 drunk mexican art students. I was walking back to my house after about 2 hours walking around downtown... and I wanted to check out the art school on my way home. As I pass by this group of young mexicans standing goofing off in the parking lot of the school... a quite amazing interaction occurs. Hola. Hola... hola hola. We start conversing... of course since it is Friday... they have been...

Sep 8, 2010 - Gratitude

Grateful is my word of the day. There are infinite number of things to be greatful for. Just to list a few; my life, my breath, this body, my capacity, my family, support, opportunities, that I can eat whatever I want every single day, I have plenty of fresh clean water, I have a roof over my head with a bed to sleep in every night I wish, I am able to pursue my passions without hesitation.... the list goes on and on and on. Yesterday I also discovered my new favorite thing in Merida. Vania Duran's Studio. This place is amazingly gorgeous,...

Sep 6, 2010 - trust? in who? me.

Baking in the heat right now. I am waiting, patiently waiting, and waiting some more for this house situation to move forward. I am just so over not physically being able to do anything about the house right now. The contract should be signed today.... and there is soooo much to do before Lemus leaves on Wednesday. Oh boy. Just another lesson of patience, and that everything will indeed happen when it is time. Yesterday I had a kind of breakthrough in a strange sense. When I arrived to Merida, I approached everything and everyone with a big...

Sep 4, 2010 - please withhold your projections

This is just a little reminder. For all of you wanting to project your insecurities and/or fears onto these words you are reading on this internet site... please withhold this tempation. There is no way you can ever understand my situation, myself, or the people I am in contact with. Of course people project from their understanding and their experience.... but please have an open mind when reading my words. There are whole entire universes I am purposely not sharing on the wide open internet.... Please trust that I would never put myself...

Sep 2, 2010 - House, Photo Shoots, High Heels

Ok, This will be a briefer entry, as soon I must leave to go on another wild goose chase with my amazing light friend Lemus. Yesterday we probably drove around 9 hours looking for a house/appartment for your sweet Norianna. We found one really great possiblity, so if we don't find something better today, I will be living in a cute well located appartment. The crazy thing is: I am NOT in USA. So when people are trying to sell or rent their houses, it usually looks like crap. I mean really crap. MOLD, cobwebs, dirty dirty floors, dirty all...

Aug 29, 2010 - Dance, Ant Invasions, wild search for....

Hola again mis amigos! I am writting to you on a humid Sunday afternoon.... well morning because I just woke up. It becomes hard to fall asleep before midnight here... Too many good late night conversations to be held at restaurants until 2 am. Again, I really have no idea where to start and what to share. My life here is a plethora of richness. Everyday I am bound to come across amazing adventures. It helps to be who I am, and look the way I do as well. I definitely experience peoples willingness to be my friend.... which works out great...

Aug 24, 2010 - Shamans... and "Feeling"

Hola... Wow. Ok where to start. Today is Tuesday. Hoy es Martes. Sunday was insanely crazy and amazing all at the same time. I walked (abt a 30 min walk) from the place I am staying to the Center at around 1 pm... intending to watch the final break dance competition. On my way there in the center plaza, I met a man named Juan. We get talking, it turns out he speaks 11 languages working on the 12th one... Japanese. I ask him if he is Mayan.. yes of course.. 100% he says. I ask him about ways to get into contact with the mayan villages... I...

Aug 22, 2010 - Mexican men and dance

Hola! The day is now Sunday. My fourth official day! Honestly it feels like I have been here a while now. I can hardly believe I only arrived on Wednesday. I have pretty much been exploring non-stop. I am writing this after going to bed at 3am, after a beautiful night of dance, dance, and some more dance. This month in Merida is the cultural celebration month for DANCE! Perfect, yah, I know! So all weekend there have been free break dancing shows. Amazing, amazing, amazing dancers. One of my friends, Fanny is the principal dancer with Alsur...

Apr 15, 2010 - Chichen Itza and Valladolid

The best day of the holiday for me was going to see Chichen Itza. As soon as you get there you can see why it is one of the seven modern wonders of the world, the sheer size of the pyramid is amazing. The design is impressive, you can see that the shadow of the sun makes it look like there is a snake running down the side of the pyramid, and when you stand in front of it and clap, a weird echo bounces back. The whole site of Chichen Itza from the Mayan settlement is massive, there is a big arena where ball games were played, lots of temples...

Apr 15, 2010 - Day 13-14 Chichén Itzá / Playa del Carmen

Day 13 We left the hotel at 8 sharp, still feeling delicate, I only had OJ and toast with a side of Imodium. 3 hours later we got to Chichen Itza. The ruins themselves are very impressive, not being able to move without getting "you buy? only 10 pesos", not so impressive. I figure there where almost and equal number of tourists to vendors. Although, some of the goods made me laugh that's for sure. Castings of large penises scattered in with masks, silver and a bazillion copies of the Mayan calendar stone. But aside from that, I do...

Apr 13, 2010 - Day 11-12 Mérida

Day 11 We arrived in Merida after an 8 hour bus ride. Saw the lowlands, the plains and the Gulf of Mexico. Rained or was overcast most of the way. Quick trip to our rooms and the off to dinner. Dinner was very good, but still feeling a bit delicate, I took an early night. Not must to say about day 12, staying near the hotel today, decided to let Mexico have its way with my innards, at least till my birthday BBQ tonight at the hotel. Going to need to make some sangria. Weather wasn't very good, rain, thunder, sun and repeat. So we all...

Mar 1, 2010 - Valladolid 1 - 8 Mar

Bill and I hit the streets of Valladolid looking for a hostel. Before long we met a young guy, coincidently, also from New Mexico (Santa Fe) who recommended the La Candaleria Hostel. What a little paradise....with walkways meandering through a beautifully landscaped tropical setting, little hideaways to sit and relax or socialize, hammocks, two spacious fully equipped kitchens...complete with three chihuahuas and two cats. My favorite chihuahua being "Bob". The managers are Avout, from Holland and his girlfriend, from Mexico, who's parents...
