If not entirely off the map Rio Lagartos is right on the edge! So far as we could tell, Rosa and I were the only tourists staying there that night, though one busload of Italians did get ferried in and back out again very smartly, probably from Cancun. The reason why anyone at all comes here- uless they are intersted in fishing for octopus (yes, very tasty), is to see the flamingos and other birds on the lagoon, maybe also with a nighttime crocodile hunt thrown in. There are turtles too, but not at this time of year, which was a shame....
