Feb 7, 2009 - Still heading south

Time of Departure - 0900 Time of Arrival - 1230ish Total distance traveled - 119 miles Travel related expenses - $0 Weather - low 80’s with a bit of a breeze and low humidity Destination - 20 miles north of Tampico, Tamaulipas Campground information - Country Express Hotel - dry camping in back parking lot
I think the entire group was back in their respective coaches and asleep by 10pm - it had been a long and exhausting day. ... It is actually a pretty slick system which has us wondering why we don’t do the same thing at home?… We made it through town and then headed south following the signs to Tampico. ... The roadways were mostly two lanes and Ken felt like a real ‘Mexican citizen’ when he got to pass his first car - that turning a 2 lane road into a 3 lane road is also a pretty nifty idea but I doubt it would ever work in the states! After a pretty uneventful drive we arrived at our next ‘campground’, which is actually a parking lot behind a small (and very nicely maintained) hotel.

Today we got up before the crack of dawn to take a bus tour with other friends from Winter Ranch. So, trying not to be too early, we arrived a half hour before we were to start and were about at the end of the line so we sat close to the back! We made our way through the border station in Reynosa and had breakfast at the El Campanari Restaurant. ... I took a picture of breakfast - tacos with some sort of mystery meat and some sort of Mexican rolls that we see all over.Today we got up before the crack of dawn to take a bus tour with other friends from Winter Ranch.
