Dec 29, 2011 - South Of Nogales, Down Santa Ana Way
When we hit the hay Wednesday (after another fine meal for me of twice frozen leftovers and 3 Buck Chuck), we knew we would face a bit of a tough choice the next day. If the fridge started to heat up again overnight, we would definitely keep the La Mesa appointment in Tucson (some 400 miles away) at 2:00. If the fridge kept cooling overnight, we had to decide whether to keep the appointment (and have them scratching their heads saying, “its doing what?”) or go with our original plan, head for Nogales, and cross the border Thursday...

Apr 13, 2011 - Nogales Mexico
Unfortunately, negative media attention has kept many tourists from now visiting this town steps from our common border which has had a horrible impact on their economy. We have found it a safe and entertaining place to visit.

Mar 24, 2010 - The Last Day/nite In Tucson, Az
Well, here we are spending the last day and night in Tucson, Arizona. Our plans to make a trip down to Tombstone, AZ didn't pan out as the weather really turned ugly the last couple of days. We've had Thunderstorms, lots of rain and cool cool weather. Unlike the 85-90 (28-35 c) we've been enjoying, the last couple of days has been 55-60 (12-15 c). So rather than fighting our way down to Tombstone thru the thunderstorms, we decided to stay and relax in the Trailer and catch up on reading (Joanne) and on-line poker tournaments for...

Mar 22, 2010 - A Great Day In Green Valley, Az.
We had a thoroughly wonderful day in Green Valley visiting Joanne's cousin Pauline and husband Wayne. (They had driven up to our campsite the day before and we had just missed them). We arrived about 10:30 a.m. and spent the entire day just visiting and catching up since our last visit. Many many stories since to share. Our biggest interest of course is our grandchildren, our 5 and their 2 with another due in June. After a beautiful lunch we all went for a long walk around the complex. As mentioned, they live in Kelowna but have rented a...

Mar 8, 2009 - Tucson Update
On Monday we attended the regular Monday morning information meeting at Desert Trails RV Park. This meeting is held by the owner, Pericles, each and every Monday morning at 9:00 am with free coffee and doughnuts. The prior Monday we headed to the meeting at 8:45 and arrived just as the last doughnut was leaving the tray so this Monday we decided to head for the meeting at 8:15 am (aren’t we turning into good seniors?) Well there already were a fair number of people waiting for the doughnuts to arrive. When they did arrive at around 8:30 am...

Mar 27, 2008 - Dust, Allergies & Mexico
Something is in the air here in Southern Arizona. I'm not sure what it is. It could be the dust, which coats everything or something is in bloom. Whatever the cause, both of us have been suffering with allergies this past week. We actually cancelled a days outing because of our sniffling, sneezing and wheezing condition. It all worked out however as we got alot of housework done and Ken got our taxes filed. We did manage to get some sightseeing in and nothing could keep Ken away from Mexico. This time we crossed the border at Nogales, AZ...

Mar 8, 2007 - Finally, Arizona
Finally, a day like this trip was supposed to be like. We left I-10 about 50 miles west of Deming and drove south towards the border. Our first destination was Hachita where we stopped with the motor home three years ago, for gas and an excellent burrito — a treat we were hoping to repeat. Instead, we found what appeared to be a ghost town. On the way down to Hachita we saw what looked like a dog in the road. As we got closer we could see it was a coyote. I took his picture as he slipped under a fence and back into the desert. We finally...

Feb 21, 2007 - Trip to Nogales, Mx.
We spent the afternoon in Nogales which is about 20 miles south of here. Just a quick jaunt on the freeway. Much more open border as far as crossing both ways although we did have to wait about 15 minutes in a line to get back to the US. We parked at a secure lot for $4.00 for the whole day but only stayed about 4 hours. We got some good pics, especially, finally a good one of us together, we think. I will try to download some this evening or tomorrow if I get a strong wireless signal. We decided to extend our stay here until Monday. When...

Feb 16, 2007 - Amado, AZ
We are staying in Amado at the De Anza RV Resort. Amado is about 1/2 way between Tucson and Nogalez, Mx. There are a ton of things to do, places to see, etc. in this area. It is quite pretty. We are about 4,000 ft. and the weather is sunny and 71. BFN

Feb 13, 2007 - Sonoita & Patagonia, AZ
Leaving Benson on a typical stormy day in Arizona (yes it does rain here occasionally)(and typical means one half of the sky is filled with bright, clear sunshine and the other half with mean looking black storm clouds), we drove right into an Arizona thunderstorm---the heavens opened and huge raindrops fell. At one point the rain actually became icy slush on the windshield. It really cleaned off the windshield for our short drive to Sonoita, and we were so glad because this is one beautiful drive. We went to Sonoita, not only because of...

Apr 3, 2006 - Mexico and other weekend adventures
Another great weekend here in Arizona! Chrissy and I headed off early Saturday and headed south to the border. We parked the car on the U.S side and walked into the town of Nogales, Mexico. As a border town, Nogales has lots of tourist shops, but also has many pharmacies and medical practices which cater to U.S senior citizens that are looking for cheaper medicines and health care...kind of interesting when you think of all of the current controversy over illegal immigrants taxing our health care system. We spent some time wandering through...

Mar 18, 2006 - Nogales, AZ - Back to the U.S.
Today, we bid good-bye to Mexico and head north to our U.S. entry point at Nogales, AZ. Our journey is about 250 miles and we leave before 6:30 a.m. hoping to get to the U.S. border early; little did we know how long a day this was going to be. We paid tolls of 317 pesos and fueled up to take advantage of the inexpensive diesel. The rest stops were crowded and we just kept going. The traffic was heavy going through Hermosillo. Once we reached the Mexico Immigration & Customs point, we returned our vehicle holograms and had our passports...
