When we hit the hay Wednesday (after another fine meal for me of twice frozen leftovers and 3 Buck Chuck), we knew we would face a bit of a tough choice the next day. If the fridge started to heat up again overnight, we would definitely keep the La Mesa appointment in Tucson (some 400 miles away) at 2:00. If the fridge kept cooling overnight, we had to decide whether to keep the appointment (and have them scratching their heads saying, “its doing what?”) or go with our original plan, head for Nogales, and cross the border Thursday...

Well, here we are spending the last day and night in Tucson, Arizona. Our plans to make a trip down to Tombstone, AZ didn't pan out as the weather really turned ugly the last couple of days. We've had Thunderstorms, lots of rain and cool cool weather. Unlike the 85-90 (28-35 c) we've been enjoying, the last couple of days has been 55-60 (12-15 c). We had a thoroughly wonderful day in Green Valley visiting Joanne's cousin Pauline and husband Wayne. (They had driven up to our campsite the day before and we had just missed them). On Monday we attended the regular Monday morning information meeting at Desert Trails RV Park. This meeting is held by the owner, Pericles, each and every Monday morning at 9:00 am with free coffee and doughnuts. The prior Monday we headed to the meeting at 8:45 and arrived just as the last doughnut was leaving the tray so this Monday we decided to head for the meeting at 8:15 am (aren’t we turning into good seniors?) Something is in the air here in Southern Arizona. I'm not sure what it is. It could be the dust, which coats everything or something is in bloom. Whatever the cause, both of us have been suffering with allergies this past week. We actually cancelled a days outing because of our sniffling,sneezing and wheezing condition. Finally, a day like this trip was supposed to be like. We left I-10 about 50 miles west of Deming and drove south towards the border. Our first destination was Hachita where we stopped with the motor home three years ago, for gas and an excellent burrito — a treat we were hoping to repeat. Feb 21, 2007 - Trip to Nogales, Mx.

We spent the afternoon in Nogales which is about 20 miles south of here. Just a quick jaunt on the freeway. Much more open border as far as crossing both ways although we did have to wait about 15 minutes in a line to get back to the US. We parked at a secure lot for $4.00 for the whole day but only stayed about 4 hours. We got some good pics, especially, finally a good one of us together, we think. Another great weekend here in Arizona! Chrissy and I headed off early Saturday and headed south to the border. We parked the car on the U.S side and walked into the town of Nogales, Mexico. Today, we bid good-bye to Mexico and head north to our U.S. entry point at Nogales, AZ. Our journey is about 250 miles and we leave before 6:30 a.m. hoping to get to the U.S. border early; little did we know how long a day this was going to be. We paid tolls of 317 pesos and fueled up to take advantage of the inexpensive diesel. The rest stops were crowded and we just kept going. The traffic was heavy going through Hermosillo.
