Mar 29, 2010 - Cancun
After what seemed a long term, the reason we basically chose to Mexico for our year abroad arrived…. SPRING BREAK! We arrived after an extremely long journey from Colima Saturday evening and headed straight out to the nightlife. Our first stop was at the Hooters, if all fails with the teaching then I reckon I could fit in getting a job there! The main strip in Cancun is unlike anywhere else we’ve seen in Mexico, but did not let us down with the Brits Abroad mob from the Thomson package holidays and American jocks taking over the clubs. We...Jump to full entry
Mar 18, 2010 - Sexy fun times in Cancun Mexico!
We spent 2 weeks at this Resort and met the most amazing friends; several Americans including friends right from our neighbourhood in the Atlantic Provinces: Debbie & Brian, Joy & Paul, Ronnie & Sandra and Cat & Dana (this couple now separated and Cat is now happily married!). We still hang out with this same bunch from time to time. It is an adult's only resort that provided all with a sexy, fun vacation not to be forgotten! We had a couples massage and went on our 2nd catamaran adventure to Isla Mujeres. This is also the trip where Ken...Jump to full entry
Jan 31, 2010 - YAY we are in Fricken MEHICO
Who woulda thought i would ever end up here. So the first thing we do after we get semi settled into our room is try to get to the beach. Its harder than it sounds cause the hotel we are in is really big and has 4 floors that look the same. We go down a wrong way and then run back to our room to get the camera! But we do find the beach at last and its pretty exciting. Me and sage get our feet wet but the ocean scares me cause its dark and im scared of things in the water that i cant see. Also the waves are very strong and me and sage have...Jump to full entry
Jun 15, 2009 - Heading west.
The rest of Santorini was unreal. We rented the quad bike and drove around the island which was beautiful but no where near as fun as a scooter... the maximum speed of the quad (going down hill with full acceleration) was 33km per hour. We visited a bunch of little towns all over the island, went snorkeling through caves, and then made our was to oia to see the famous sunset which was pretty amazing. The rest of our time on the island involved swimming, snorkeling, drinking and playing card games. We watched the sunrise over the water one...Jump to full entry
May 27, 2009 - On My Own at Casita Carolina
I'm just starting a month of welcoming guests to Casita Carolina and taking care of reservations by phone and the internet. The first guests were a couple from Oregon. He is a professor of philosophy at a Benedictine seminary and Karen is a retired trapeze artist with a troupe that has been described as the poor man's Cirque de Soleil. I attach a photo of her. www.casitacarolina.comJump to full entry
May 27, 2009 - Turkish Delight. Yum.
I can't believe I left it this long again. I can't remember yesterday let alone way back in Ephesus so I'll have to make it pretty brief. Basically from Selcuk we travelled down the coast of Turkey. Our first stop was a place called Fethiye which is a fishing town that likes to rain. It poured but we put on our ponchos and pretended like it was nice. So that was fine. We had one nice day so we went on a day cruise around the small islands just off the coast. It was beautiful but unfortunately the only nice day fell on a Saturday and Turkish...Jump to full entry
May 22, 2009 - Mexico
Our flight to Cancun, Mexico from LA was uneventful and we landed in the steamy heat of Cancun to be greeted by the face-masked ground staff. This was our first introduction to the swine flu precautions that have been implemented in Mexico, the so-called epicentre. Our temperature was taken as we passed through customs but after that we haven’t heard a thing, in fact the locals say that they haven’t had one instance of swine flu in the entire Yucatan Peninsula! It is a great pity that the media have created such a negative hype. The people...Jump to full entry

Apr 12, 2009 - Guatemala and Mexico.
This is going to be a long one.... On the boat I watched Utila get further and further away and just wanted to jump in the water and swim back. But, I didn´t and carried on like a good traveller. After the boat, a taxi, and 2 busses I got to Copan, in Northern Central (Central Northern?) Honduras. Copan is a cute little town with the main attraction being the Mayan Ruins. So after a night of meeting new people and running into the 2 Israeli guys I´ve been running into everywhere, I got up the next morning ready to head to the ruins with...Jump to full entry
Mar 9, 2009 - Back to Cancun and the States
I continue to bounce around like a ping-pong ball, loving every minute of it. In the last 24 hours, I have flown from Buenos Aires into NYC for a brief stay with my family and a meeting with the World Energy Forum folks, and then to Tel Aviv with a short layover in Istanbul. I’m a bit more settled now, and wanted to catch everyone up on what I’ve been up to over the past month, since my time in Cuba. I left La Habana (Havana) and headed back to Cancun for a one-night stay. In the interest of time and money, I opted to stay in the Spring...Jump to full entry
Feb 27, 2009 - One more day
I find it interesting that here we are camped just outside one of the largest tourist destinations there is and we chose to spend the day running errands and taking a nap. I guess that means that we aren't really very good at being tourists. I'm glad of that. So, we did manage to find our way through the teeming streets of Ciudad Cancun to get some shopping done - which is a challenge. And we did manage to take a short siesta in the afternoon. At 1830 a bus showed up to take us out to dinner. Our venue for the evening was a restaurant full...Jump to full entry
