Jan 22, 2010 - Visitors and Birthdays

It has been a busy few days and this week has gone by so fast. We had a wonderful week with my brother-in-law, Richard, mostly hanging out and enjoying the beach and the good weather. Thursday we took Richard up to the La Penita market for the first time; it’s always fun to see something we see so often through new eyes. I think he really enjoyed it and even found a few gifts for his family. I was busy buying a few extra items for the evening festivities. Thursday evening we had a dinner party for 10 for Ralph’s 72nd birthday. It was great,...

Jan 19, 2010 - Sunshine and Sand

The storm has passed and the waves are calming down. We have actually had a couple of days of good boogie boarding, but some of the waves are still big enough to dump you in the sand. The streets are drying up and the little palapa restaurants on the beach are starting to repair and reopen. Saturday, we drove into Puerto Vallarta and picked up my brother-in-law, Richard at the airport. He is staying with us for a week and living in one of the little cabanas in our trailer park. Last year he came to visit and he wanted to see everything! We...

Jan 15, 2010 - Stormy Weather

Had a busy morning, hiking, line dancing, painting, visiting…I finally got back to our trailer at noon, whew! Today has been real stormy, I forgot my camera when I went for a hike this morning and I’m sorry because there were some incredible waves. Because it was a high tide, the water was up and spilling over into the streets , the main street had over 3 blocks filled to the curbs with salt water that ran over the berm on the beach. Anything on the beach was being washed away, including palapas (small restaurants) and chairs and anything...

Jan 12, 2010 - The Town Square

This morning, after the dogs and I had our early morning hike, I headed over to our old trailer park for Line Dancing, then after a nominal cool down, I headed back for water color painting. I then rushed back home because the veggie truck was coming and we were totally out of anything fresh. After that we headed up the road to the little town of La Penita, about 10 miles up the road, to buy some shade cloth, we were fortunate to find some. A few other purchases and we came home to wait for the cooler evening to relax. On the way I stopped...

Jan 10, 2010 - Settling In

Spent most of today getting settled in to our new spot. We have decided to go ahead and stay here for the next month at least, it’s a nice park, small and quiet and we are already here. So today was spent putting up awnings and some shade cloth because there is so much more sun exposure here and I even got my lights up. We had plenty of time to wander and swim on the beach and chat with friends. This evening we spent some time getting to know our new neighbors, everything should work out fine here.

Jan 9, 2010 - Lo de Marcos

Got away around 9 this morning and made good time into Lo de Marcos, unfortunately when we arrived at our RV Park, Pequeno Paraiso, our spot was taken and apparently won’t be available until the 15th of Jan. So we scrambled and found alternate arrangements for a week or so, but we are so disappointed that we can’t be with our friends; it was so great to see everyone this morning at the park and we will be looking forward to joining everyone soon. We are staying in a place called Savage RV Park, it is nice, very small, but it has no shade,...

Jan 2, 2010 - Happy New Year - Feliz Ano Nuevos

We survived Christmas and New Years here in the nice warm climate. So much different than the COLD and SNOW and all the bundling up to go anywhere. Traci arrived on Dec. 20 after a rather long delay. We had driven into PV to pick her up and not even thinking we never checked the website - BIG MISTAKE. When we arrived at the airport we found out her flight was 6 hours late. We decided we didn't want to hang around PV for that length of time so after a quick stop at Walmart we headed home to wait out the delay. This time we check the website...

Mexico 2009

Dec 19, 2009 - Felix Navidad

Merry Christmas to all Here are some photos from the start of our journey. We have reached our destination (at least for the next month). We arrived on Tuesday around noon. Our trip down was very fast but, fortunately, uneventful. After we left San Carlos on Sunday morning our next stop was in Celestino Gasca. This has become a regular stopping spot, either on the way down or on the way. Sometimes both. Monday we stopped early as there was no way that we could complete our journey before dark. Of course, if I hadn't stopped in Matachen...

Jan 26, 2009 - What Fun!!!

I had an interesting email this morning from the folks who sponsor my blog site. I hope everyone enjoys my blog as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it. Dear Heidi, We recently reviewed your Trip Journal, 2008/2009 North American Tour. It exhibits qualities that make it one of the BEST journals on our site. We have accordingly included your journal in the 'Best of MyTripJournal' system! The 'Best of MyTripJournal' is our response to many traveler requests for a better way to view other travelers' website content. This 'virtual grapevine' helps...

Jan 23, 2009 - Lo de Marcos

Tonight after a great day on the beach, Dale, a man from the neighboring RV Park, brought over his Karaoke machine and set it up on our RV Park patio. All the folks from the neighboring parks joined us and we had a great evening of music, singing and lots of laughs.

Jan 17, 2009 - Alta Vista to Puero Vallarta

Today our neighbors here in the RV Park asked if we wanted to join them on a back road adventure, searching for a waterfall with some pools below it. Of course we agreed and planned an impromptu picnic, filled our tanks and headed out on the road. We had gotten some rather hazy instructions from one of the other people here at the park and figured we were sure to find it. The road was an adventure in itself and we passed through some amazing little hamlets that were quite surprised at seeing our faces in their towns. Of course everyone was...

Jan 15, 2009 - Lo de Marcos

Yesterday we had a very relaxing day on the beach enjoying the sun and sand (and not driving). I think Richard had a good time with us this week and we sure enjoyed his stay, hope he comes back and joins us again next year, if we come back this way. This morning we had to get up at 4 AM to get Richard to the airport for his 8 AM flight. We got him there in plenty of time and said a sad farewell. We were going to do some shopping in PV while we were there, but we were there so early nothing was open, so we headed back to our nest and enjoyed...
