I fell in love with this place last year when I visited it for the first time with a friend of mine. Sayulita is in a little Gilligan´s Island enclave, where the beach stretches like a horseshoe between land outcroppings, and the village is small (three streets running horizontal and four running vertical). ... In addition to having authentic Mexicans and their culture, it also has a strong flavor of North American hippies, ex-pats of both U.I fell in love with this place last year when I visited it for the first time with a friend of mine. Hard to believe, but a month has whizzed by and I'm about to be on my way home again. There's the old, original, Mexican town located just north of Rincon de Guayabitos where Mexicans carry on their normal lives and, of course, the main plaza where community events take place and Mexicans gather (there were very few gringos in the plaza the night we watched folkloric dancers performing here) and there's a weekly market where you can buy all the usual fruits, vegetables, clothing, CDs, etc. ... although an ever expanding section of the market is devoted to selling souvenirs to tourists.Hard to believe, but a month has whizzed by and I'm about to be on my way home again.
