Feb 15, 2006 - Zihua to Isla Grande (aka Isla Ixtapa)

It was a sad day leaving Zihuatanejo, our favorite place we have been so far in Mexico. We are sure we will be back some day, but we don't know when. We had many well wishers via radio as we left the bay. We had an uneventful motor boat ride to Isla Grande (also known as Isla Ixtapa), off of Playa Linda. Kevin was recovering from a cold, so we decided to make our getaway on a short initial hop before doing an overnighter. We enjoyed the quieter and darker anchorage, better star viewing than in Zihua Bay.

Mar 20, 2005 - Isla Ixtapa to Lazaro Cardenas

We had a nice motor sail to Lazaro Cardenas, a commercial port. We had what are known as ¨land and sea breezes¨. This basically means we had light winds off the land in the morning, then off the sea in the afternoon. We made good time, primarily due to a nice 1-2 knot current up the coast. We saw more sea turtles, but this time a lot of the were islands that appeared to be napping, complete with a sea bird on each one. The sea birds flew away when we approached. The turtles barely acknowledged our existance, even if we passed them fairly...
