Dec 12, 2009 - Puerto Vallarta to Tequila, Jalisco
The church bombs started up about 5:00 AM this morning. If I was from Beirut I suppose it would be a common way to wake up and start the day but I am not accustom to it. Dam those things are loud! It was a sad start to the day leaving my French Canadian ladies but I am well ready for the road again. Just starting the bike and moving it out front to load up got my wanderlust juices going full bore again. It was a bit slow getting out of Puerto Vallarta but once I cleared the city and found the little highway towards Mascota life was good; a...

Dec 12, 2009 - Tequila – WHAT A PARTY!
The celebration for the Virgen Guadalupe is a state-wide event, not just a celebration in Puerto Vallarta. I had expected to find something would be going on, perhaps a procession or service, but I could not have imagined what I found in Tequila. This small town was bursting at the seams with at least a couple of thousand of people in the square and on the adjoining streets. There was an amusement park for the kids, bands playing in a couple of different places and food stalls everywhere. It was all so vibrant, colourful and loud it was...

Nov 11, 2008 - Jocotepic to Tequila, Jalisco
No visit to this area of Mexico would be complete without a visit to Tequila, the birthplace of the legendary drink of the gods. The only barrier was that Tequila is on the opposite side of Guadalajara from Jocotepic and there was no way we were going through the city. No problem. I mapped out a possible round-about route through the countryside. It was twice the distance as going through the city but be were anxious to do some riding and to see more of rural Mexico. You might notice I mentioned I mapped out a “potential” route. I have...

Apr 17, 2008 - Da na na na..... Tequila
Sorry for the lag in updates!!!! So after Playa Los Cocos, we ventured inland with our trustee steed panama, to the glorious city of Tequila. To get there we had to drive over mountains and into the valley near guadalajara. Tequila itself was a small town surrounded by fields of Blue Agave. As you arrive in town your overwhelmed by the schmorgusborg of tequila. Some in flasks, others in jugs, and barrels!! We got settled at our hotel and signed up for the tour of the Jose Quervo factory. That was pretty good! Did you know that they are...

Feb 3, 2008 - Tequila (2)

I am sitting here eating mango and cucumber covered in lime, salt and chile. Quite an interesting taste for both the mango and the cucumber, let me tell you. And oh so very Mexican. Salt and lime (and for that matter chile) are put on EVERYTHING. I mean everything. Mango is not the weirdest I have seen. So yesterday I went on another wonderful trip. This time it was to Tequila, the pueblo outside of Guadalajara that is responsible for the infamous drink of the same name. A whole party of volunteers (five of us) met up at the bus station and...
