Dec 9, 2005 - Los Frailes to Bahia Chamela
We had a sunrise start to our multi-day passage to the mainland. We planned to let the wind and sea conditions dictate our destination, and great sailing winds indicated that we should head 340 miles to Bahia Chamela! Going further south and east gave us a much better point of sail and the seas more astern than if we did a more traditional passage to Mazatlan or Banderas Bay, as many people do. It was a boisterous sail, often only with our small head sail, as shown in the photo. We averaged 5.3 knots for the journey, which is great for us....
