Jul 3, 2012 - Time to Go to Canada
Hola, I bet you thought that we had fallen off of the face of the earth..not so. This cruising season was far from being exciting. After having a haul out on the first of March we still had to hang here, we had a recall on a piece on our mast. We choose to wait in Mazatlan until the part was shipped from the States and installed. The company strongly suggested not to go sailing as the mast would have fallen down if the part failed. So we waited and waited!!!!!!!One of our batteries failed so we waited some more for a new one to come from...Jump to full entry
Mar 15, 2012 - Manzanillo, Mexico
We pulled in at 7 today and our group met in the Piazza at 9:30. This is a pretty small place and we are not taking an official tour today. We plan to just walk off and see what is here. This is a substitute port for Acapulco which was removed from the itinerary because of the crime and kidnappings there. We wandered around the port area and there wasn’t much to see there. There was a small square with some shops and several craftspeople on the dock seling handmade things. It’s a beautiful sunny day in the 80’s. Manzanillo is Mexico’s...Jump to full entry
Dec 17, 2011 - Merry Christmas
Well at long last I have decided to make an entry. We are in Mazatlan once again and loving it, this seem to be where I enjoy being most this time of the year. Yesterday we attended a performance by the salvation army children. They danced and sang their little heart out. Rene and I could have kidnapped at least a couple of there little gaffers with their killer smiles and beautiful brown eyes. I also went to a chicken breakfast last week where we paid 150.pesos to eat all the funds went to supply hampers to the poor family in the out lying...Jump to full entry

Mar 13, 2011 - Tsunami, Colima, Volcano, (WOW)
Hi all. We are safe and sound. Turns out we were on Tsunami alert day before yesterday around 3.00pm. Nothing happened until about 4pm when a big swell came onto the beach at the Con ca De Mar beach bar. Some tables started to move and people were grabbing their drinks. All tables and food were pulled off the sand. The rest is about 8 feet above the beach, so pretty safe as they were just calling for a 6 foot swell. Melaque has tsunami alarm system and the water is monitored. Police were on the beach looking and keeping an eye on the...Jump to full entry
Mar 11, 2011 - We have wheels!
Yes its true. After walking around for the last 2 weeks we now have a set of bikes to ride. Our old buddies from Maude Bay have a place down here and have a couple extra bikes and offered them to us! Nice, it feels like we have a car. We just glide around all over the town. The festival is in full swing now so every night at 3.30 and 4.30 large explosions happen in the sky. The sound is very loud and the vibration sets off many car alarms. LOL This is Mexican fun I guess. Rox wakes up and is no so impressed but I wear my ear plugs and just...Jump to full entry

So I just headed over to the Albatross Rest down on the beach. They are trying to raise money for a girls dress for prom so there was a little deal on dinner and the money was forwarded to the girl. Rox was looking forward to a nice meal after Yoga but I had other ideas. Lets grab some grub at the Albatross and then go to the Circus. Wow, I was pumped. We paid our 30 pesos or about 25 cents...Jump to full entry

Yesterday we went to Barra to go shopping. But, we got stuck in the local cruising sailboat bar with half price margs. Hmm So, after a few margs Rox & Donna Jean went shopping for some funky Yoga Pants from India I sat on the curb and soaked up some sun! After shopping we got some food at one of the local shops and headed up high in a bar to get some more half price margs and watch the sun go down over the ocean. It was great. Ops forgot to mention we walked to the bay next door and bumped into some friends of Rox´s from Nanaimo. So, had a...Jump to full entry

We got there had breakfast then were speed off to a small island surrounded in white powder sand and lots of bird. My favorite bird of the day was the Brown Boobie. Wow it did not even look real with green plastic looking feet. The birds are afraid of us so we come right up to then and say hi, take some pics and move on. Quite a climb up to the cliffs to see the birds through cactus and...Jump to full entry
