Mar 14, 2012 - Back in Escarcega

There are buses travelling towards Isla Aguada every couple of hours but we were told that there are only two per day going back towards Escarcega at 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. This doesn’t make any sense to me but it seemed to be the case. We got a ride from the beach to the town centre in a motorcycle taxi. It even had a stereo system in it and the driver had a collection of CDs to play. It is visible in one of the photos. Find Tom 4

Mar 11, 2012 - Escarcega

Today we travelled by bus and stopped for the night in Escarcega in the state of Campeche. We are heading for the Gulf coast. The bus from Chetumal did not leave until noon so it was impossible to get an early start. If we could have left early in the morning, we could have made it to the coast all in one day. Find Tom 4

Nov 20, 2006 - Escarcega,Campeche

We have made it to Escarcega, Campeche but over drove our original destination for the night, which was Villahermosa. There was a bad accident and we were stuck on the hiway for 2 hours so we had to drive 2 hours in the dark to next place that had a small hotel. It's very scary driving at night and even scarrier staying in the place we did. We left Veracruze at 8 am and drove for 12 hours minus the 2 we sat on the hiway. Roger actually got out and mingled with the others on the road ( somewhat anyways with little spanish it's more like...

Mexico For 3

Dec 6, 2004 - Drive from Campeche to Rio Bec Dreams near Xpujil, and runners for Our Lady

The drive from Campeche to Rio Bec Dreams in Xpujil: Dec 6 I left the city of Campeche about mid morning and drove along the coast toward the town of Champoton. The sea was beautiful and peeked through the trees various times until I made the final hill and the road sloped down along the beach. Then it came into its full glory with the sun glittering off the surface of the calm water. There were many beach houses along this area of Campeche bay. I spotted a little Mayan structure with palm thatch roof. I pulled into gravel area in front of...
