Feb 18, 2007 - Isla Aguada, MX - Welcome to the Yucatan!

We left Villahermosa bound for Isla Aguada, a distance of 143 miles. Tolls cost us 350 pesos today and still produced some pretty bad stretches of road. We passed through several small towns. Being Sunday, most families were dressed up for church and the little children just waved enthusiastically at us. We had two inspections today and we were pulled for both of them....luck-of-the-draw. The first was a military inspection. When the guard saw Foxy, he backed up and asked to check our outside bins. Normally, they come inside too but Foxy...

Jan 28, 2007 - Villahermosa to Isla Aguada, Mexico

We started out this morning by finding we had a flat tire on the trailer. (Me and my bad back). We got the tire changed before the caravan left. We went through a lot of small villages. All the children came out to wave because they expected us to throw them candy. The company we are traveling with doens't want us to do this to avoid any accident with a kid. We past through a military check point were some of us were checked for documents. Then we past through an agricultural check point. Of course we hid everything so they didn't take...

Oct 9, 2005 - Mexico

Our plane trip (including stopovers) was a mighty 30 hours! A great start to any holiday. After the hellish 30 hours on a plane we arrived in Mexico City. Waiting for us at the airport was Amber, a friend who had already been travelling for one & a half years, who we had planned to meet in Mexico, on this date, about 2 years ago. Who would have thought that this would actually work out!! So after the obvious hugs & kisses, we were off on a fairly scary van trip to the hostel.
