Dec 3, 2015 - Dunes from Dec. 3 to 24

Bon and I spent considerable time at Esquina, Cafe Todos Santos, and several other local establishments in and about town as well as 2 Sunday trips to Baja Beans for our favorite carrot cake. We both have come to the conclusion thst we're done camping here in the future - 15 years is long enough and with privacy a much bigger issue we're not in the mood to bare ourselves before the world anymore. Not that we're shy but more that the public has changed here ( higher end and less tolerant). On the bright side, of the 42 plants I've put in...

Nov 27, 2015 - Dunes 11/27-29

11/27,8,&9 The day after Thanksgiving reports indicate that the storm may bring high winds...the kind our tents cannot withstand. So we opt for caution and hunker down. Plus everyone is tired and an off day is required...we dry and organize our gear for assembly tomorrow. Today skies are still cloudy and it's very humid.  We opt for seeing La Paz first then go swim and set up camp -again.   Once in La Paz, a real Mexican city, we walk the malecon and settle on a nice little MX restaurant with good MX food. Over an hour later (@ 3) we leave...

Nov 26, 2015 - THANKSGIVING

11/26 THANKSGIVING The entire adult family is in an uproar...kids handling well.  Issues re: tents, sleeping, promises,  miscommunications...all the regular stuff but 2 very stubborn people at loggerheads causing much confusion among the remaining folk. I get up early because we need the big tent erected to get out of the sun. Takes me by myself 1+ hours securing corners with deadmen so winds do not blow it away.  Next I need to erect an outhouse but require a shovel.  I just happen to run into David our neighbor from run into David our...

Nov 24, 2015 - Todos Santos

After landing, collecting our bags, shuttle to Cactus car rental, taking care of $$, loading up the 3 cars...we go to Costco for our first 'Mexican' meal, ha! We arrive after dark and amid some confusion we decide it best to wait setting up camp for tomorrow. Up since before 5 all are tired and actually I'd say exhausted!

Mar 24, 2015 - Mexico - Todos Santos

From Cabo San Lucas, I took the bus north to La Paz, with a 4 hour stop in Todos Santos, home of the Hotel California. It turns out it isn't the real one because the Eagles song doesn't refer to a real hotel, it is a metaphor for the excess of the life of a rock star. But it was still a neat hotel, has been nicely renovated, in a little town with a Mission and nice craft shops, and a place across the street from the Hotel that makes "the best margaritas”.

Mar 16, 2011 - Todos Santos via La Paz - Pics Need Captions

Ferry arrived and we got off shortly after 6:30am. It took another hour and a half to get thru a bag check and for the bus to load up before heading into La Paz. After a long day in La Paz we finally got out of town and arr at Canada del Diablo and Barbara Perkins just before closing at 5! Pedro helped us get the car uncovered and off blocks. Bon got into Blue and the wonderful girl (Blue-the car!) fired right up and purred like a contented cat! We got to our dunes campsite just in time to set up our tent and get settled before dark. A damp...

Jan 5, 2010 - Todos Santos

In La Paz we got a late start so instead of heading to TS (we did not know about 4 laner) we ckd into an auto Motel...designed specifically for on night stands!! Complete w/ condoms, over-the-bed mirrors and garages to keep vehicles discretely out of sight! Amazing. Blue (Bon's car) was a very happy camper, ha! She's never had a room of her own (garage) on any of our car travels before. A good thing now since she will be sitting under a tarp in hot TS weather for over a year. We wheeled out onto the divided highway which enters La Paz from...

Apr 21, 2009 - Back home

So that's it! I went to Todos Santos for my last 2 nights. This is an artsy gringo community near Cabo on the Pacific side. Got sick of Mexican food and ate Sushi and pasta my last 2 dinners. Rented a bike so I could get out and explore the nearby beaches. Arrived home in Jasper at 4:00 this morning on the Greyhound. Security is tight these days on the bus! My carry-on luggage was searched and they scanned us all with metal detectors before we could board. Check previous entries, because I've added some more photos now that I'm at my home...

Feb 29, 2008 - Grey Whales - Up Close And Personal

Well, we got our chance to see whales up close. Our kind neighbours, Jeff and Sandra offered to pile us into their club cab pick-up for the 15 minute drive into Todos Santos and then another quick bounce along a dirt path through palm rimmed farmland out to the beach where the freshwater lagoon meets the Pacific. Doing this drive ourselves with Harvey was out of the question the path was narrow and the overhanging grasses and trees formed a sort of tunnel which would have ripped the accessories off our rolling home. The trip was fun with a...
