Nov 23, 2004 - Bahia Santa Maria to Cabo San Lucas

We left Bahia Santa Maria mid-afternoon on 11/21 on a planned three nighter to La Paz, with a plan to arrive the day before Thanksgiving. There were NW winds forcast in the Sea of Cortez on 11/23, which we knew would make it semi-questionable as to whether we could make it (our boat does not progress well against strong wind and/or waves and/or currents), but we thought we would give it a try in case the forecast was wrong. We were planning to meet our friends on the Pegasus (neighbors on Bainbridge for 7.5 years before they left for Mexico...

Oct 5, 2004 - Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Cabo San Lucas The Mexican Riviera Cruising along the Baja California Peninsula to Cabo San Lucas at the tip. Arrived just before 7am when sunrise was just happening (though we had been watching the lights of the towns & lighthouses for about an hour). Some spectacular rocky formations at the entrance to the harbour. An armada of fishing boats heading out at first light. Sonny & Susie headed off on a game fishing trip for the day with Sonny catching (& releasing) a marlin and Susie catching & releasing a dolphin fish plus several Doggie...

Jun 3, 2004 - Next stop was Cabo San Lucas

After hearing about Cabo San Lucas from my business partner for many years, I knew this had to be a stop. About half way down the peninsula, one runs out of the duty free zone and free visa limit. In order to stop the practice of bring cars down to Mexico and selling them duty free to the local population, Mexico passed a law that a deposit in the amount of a possible duty be placed on a credit card for a designated period of time (not to exceed 1 year). Upon departure from the Mexico within that time period, the hold was taken off the...

Oct 28, 2003 - Cabo San Lucas

We took a water-taxi to see the Arch from Cabo San Lucas. It was nice to see it, the sea-lions and related interesting rock formations. The boat left us at a water-only-access beach called Lovers' Beach. Really nice snorkeling there for us all and some amazingly fun surf. Robin's getting used to being tossed around by the waves like a matchstick, and having lots of fun at it! Back at Cabo San Lucas we had a late lunch and did a bit of Xmas shopping, going separate ways. Hallowe'en is coming soon and we're speccing out some options. The...

Oct 23, 2003 - Slowing down at San Jose del Cabo

Here we are. The place is great, couldn't imagine a more tastefully decorated place than this. But I must say it's going to take a while to truly relax. Today Adrian and I tried boogy boarding in some incredibly harsh surf. Adrian did fantastic, but my boogie board snapped in half! Que sera, sera. I'll buy a new one tomorrow... Robin just loves the 3 pools at our place, he basically won't stay out of them. Faye's not complaining either. TOday cerveza, manana margaritas. Such is the tough life here. Photos to come.
