Mar 7, 2016 - Vicente Guerrero, Baja, Mexico

Our first travel day we drove from Chula Vista to Vicente Guerro. This travel journal program plotted the location of Vicente Guerro way further inland, it should have been on the Pacific Ocean. It is the day we cross the border into Mexico. At the border we have to get our visas stamped. Fantasy did all the work and provided the visas and that was a big blessing. On our first trip to Mexico we had to do all this ourselves and it was very nerve wracking since the language barrier was great. This time, all we had to do was park, get out, go...

Apr 8, 2010 - Camping on the beach !

We left Ensenada and are heading for a campsite just south of SanQuintin. The campsite is right on the beach, we camped here on our last trip both up and down Baja. We pulled into the campsite in the early afternoon after quite an uneventful drive from Ensenada. Upon entering the campsite we pulled right onto the beach and as Jack did so his motorhome steered left and his tow car steered right. The tires on both vehicles immediately dug into the sand. With the car unhooked the motorhome just sat spinning and digging into the sand. My...

Feb 8, 2009 - Colona Vincente Guerrero

Posada Don Diego – Colona Vincente Guerrero - February 1 Buenos dias from Mexico. We spent today getting through the border, and getting south to our first campground. What huge contrasts! On one hand, really “humble” abodes, then on the other, beautiful enclaves on the beach, walled and gated. Probably winter homes for snowbirds. We saw one development priced at 350,000 US. The towns and villages are quite different from what we see north of the border. The highway is the main street, with very wide shoulders where cars park diagonally,...

Sep 19, 2008 - Back on the beach at San Quintin

Chris & Anne Well its official, I have given my cold to anne. She has been feeling pretty rough for the past few days, but today, is the worst. She is muggling thru taking lots of meds and chasing them down with alcohol at nite. We arrived at San Quintin this afternoon and met some folks from a local mission. Within an hour there were kids everywhere (16 to be exact) all from the local mission. As we had lots of grub I was cooking up some hamburger for the dogs when I mentioned maybe we should have the kids over for dinner. Even though the...

Sep 2, 2008 - We are camping on the beach......

Chris & Anne Seems we were all up kinda early today…especially since we had gone thru a time zone change the day before and no one realized it…..I had to get it on record that I was up once more prior to 7am…..when it was really 8am…. We walked from the RV site to a local restaurant and had breakfast. We then unhitched from the RV park and headed south. We gassed up at the Pemex station before leaving Ensenada…..$0.70/l…… Note: Kevin….we can afford to fill up our rigs here….LOL…… After leaving Ensenada, we left the toll hwy and were on the...

Feb 26, 2008 - Ensenada to San Quintin

We departed via Highway 1 south and rode as far as San Quentin. We stayed in a hotel called "The Cactus", a definite keeper and was recommended to us by our friends from Montreal. Although the town itself does not have much to offer, the hotel was elaborate and decorated in classic Mexican style. It filled up very fast with off-road enthusiasts who flock to the area to drive their dune buggies and other off-road vehicles in the Baja desert.

Feb 16, 2008 - Left Mulege and travelled to San Quintin

However, it was a beautiful day to day and we rode a long way. I knew that today was the day that I would my daughter Rachel her souvenir and I did so in Catavina Tomorrow we enter the US and hopefully reach Bakersfield. The weather is holding for us to get over the Grapevine pass to Bakersfield, yet it looks like it will change. Somehow, Phil's bike stayed nice and clean and mine was always dirty. Hmmm.

Jan 21, 2008 - Mountain Climbing to San Quintin

We arose early in the morning at about 4:00 a.m. worried sick about whether our living area slide would go back in. The slide had made a new banging noise when we opened it two days before, and we had not tried to retract it since no help would have been available until Monday anyway. Finally after all our departure routines were complete, we decided we could not put off the inevitable and with Ken watching outside I tremulously pushed the button and voila the slide came in without incident. What a relief that was. So off we went to the...

Dec 14, 2007 - San Quintin

Friday December 14...9:30pm On the road by 9am, and it turned out to be a good thing. The road south has some twisty windy parts, and overall it's pretty slow going. I'd think we probably averaged about 60 km/h if you took into consideration our checking for directions and taking a coffee break. They had a pretty severe rain storm a couple of weeks ago and it's left some bad sections to the rural roads that haven't completely dried up yet. So when we break off the main highway to head for the coast, we have to be careful not to get onto...
