May 9, 2007 - Day 3 - Puerto Refugio - North end of Isla Angel de la Guarda

Day Three (the second day at sea) was undertaken with an early morning push-off from the beautiful beach of Gonzaga bay and a quick encounter with the ever-present Sargasso weed. The day was planned to include a relatively long overwater crossing to Bahia Refugio at the North end of Isla Angel de la Guarda, probably the longest island in the midriff area. Jul 29, 2005 - Ensendada Alcatraz to Puerto Refugio

We left for Puerto Refugio, on the north end of Isla Angel de la Guarda, on 7/29. For whatever reason, even though there was very little wind, we had a very steep and annoying swell out of the SE, which hit us on the beam. It was a less than pleasant 27 nautical mile journey, at least until we rounded Roca Vela, to say the least. The approach to Puerto Refugio is somewhat tricky, but we had good directions from two of our resources.
