Feb 14, 2014 - Happy Valentine's Day!

We hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s Day. Jerry and I spent most of the day back in Algodones, Mexico. This time we went just for fun, no appointments for glasses etc. We had shrimp tacos for lunch at one of the restaurants recommended by a friend, they were delicious. We shopped all over the town today, we almost bought a wooden carved moose to put on the patio until we tried to figure where to store during travel days. You learn fast when traveling by RV that space is hard to come by, I would have to take something else out, so I...

Feb 13, 2014 - Algodones Mexico

We went back to Mexico again today. I got my teeth cleaned for $25 and Jerry got his glasses for $130, the same pair of glasses at Walmart were $300. He even got the flexible frames that do not break if you sit on them, or drop them etc. We also made our appointments very late in the afternoon around 3:00 P.M. We realized if you leave around 4 or 5, the lines are fast and easy. We only had about ten people ahead of us. We are going back tomorrow for Valentine's Day, just for fun. :-) We will also be moving to Yuma or Quartzsite, Arizona...

Apr 13, 2010 - Across the Border

We drove our car from our parking spot at the casino to the Border a distance of 2 miles. It's a very safe crossing. We parked our car on the US side of the road and walked about 3 blocks to cross the border. We were greeted by many good looking salesmen trying to refer us to a dentist, or pharmacies. We walked into liquor stores, grocery stores, and walked through areas trying to get one to buy jewelery, purses, t-shirts, or other decors. Liquor stores had the beautiful gals trying to get one to sample the liqueurs. I was surprised at the...

Maas' 2010

Jan 29, 2008 - Yuma

We need to make another visit to Mexico to get some more Kahlua. Our bottle is still good, but the grandparents have had some accidents with theirs, so they need more. We drive to the border crossing in the Mexican town of Algodones; there is a large parking lot which charges $5.00 per car, but we manage to find a spot on the road for free - a short walk will get us across. Evan is a little leery going back across, after we went to Juarez, but this looks much better already. There is no toll to cross and no guards with large weapons greet...

Jan 19, 2008 - Lunch in Algdones, Mexico and a visit to the Yuma Territorial Prison

Most of the time, I use the showers in the RV Park if they have them and if the water is hot. I don't know that it's any easier or better than taking a shower in the camper, but I figure I'm paying for it, so why not. I used the showers at Palm Canyon, but I realized that it also makes a big difference if the bath houses are heated! In Indio, it was, but in AB, it wasn't. Brrr... I got on the road by 9am after waving back furiously to Joshua's muffled but loud Good Morning announcement through the front window. If his grandparents were...
