Because we didn't get to all the places yesterday, today we headed south again with the intent of getting further south to Baie du Cap, a small town on the south side of the island. The first portion of the drive led us through Tamarin where we passed through before but this time we took photos of the 18th century salt flats in town. It is the last place in Mauritius where salt is still produced. A beach stop brought us to an unattractive construction area with an old cannon sitting on the sand. ASIS Abu Dhabi

Jan 11, 2013 - Days 17 +, Mauritius

Day 17 Travel to our final destination was again really smooth. We arrived in Mauritius at night time so we didn't see much of the island. Our hotel welcomed us with an african drumming routine and we were glad to be somewhere luxurious for the relaxation leg of our journey. Day 18 + In summary, Mauritius promised lots and what we've experienced so far, it's certainly delivered. We've waterskiied in crystal blue waters, snorkelled in an aquarium of tropical fish and eaten lobster in paradise. The sunsets here are also pretty special....
