Vietnam was sad to see us go - it cried from the sky on our last day and last morning there as we said farewell to the bulk of our tour companions. We eventually made it to the bus an hour and a quarter late, to begin the winding journey to Luang Prabang. ... As I stepped out of the minibus in Vientiane I ran into three other back-packers that had also just arrived and were looking for accommodation. ... Really not much else to report from Vientiane! I went to bed early again last night since I had to wake up at 3:30am to go to the airport for my 6am flight to Cambodia. ... Foto's staan bij de 2 vorige berichtjes: Kratie/ Ban Lung, en Si Phan Don! 10-03-2010 We Verlaten de eilanden Don Khon/ Don Det met een bootje en de bus en binnen een paar uur zijn we in de volgende stad, Pakse. ... Dat doen we samen met een Nederlandse jongen (Groningen), Tjardo genaamd, waar we nu al een paar dagen samen mee reizen, leuk, en gezellig! Eerst slapen we een nachtje in Pakse, (een stad waar verder niet iets te beleven valt), zodat we de volgende ochtend vroeg op de motorbike kunnen stappen voor drie dagen. ... 's Avonds komen we weer in Pakse, en nemen gelijk de nachtbus naar Vientiane, de hoofdstad van Laos. ...

It's only been a little over a day since my last update, but I figured I would write again while I had the time. After updating yesterday, I switched hotels from my first night in Vang Vieng. ... It is basically the main attraction in Vang Vieng - rent an inner tube and float down the river stopping at bars along the way. ... It is absolute insanity! Si Phan Don 06-03 In de minibus verlaten we Ban Lung en daarmee Cambodja, om naar Laos te gaan. 's Middags varen we met een bootje naar het eiland Don Khon (Four thousand islands) waar we de komende dagen zullen verblijven. ... Bij aankomst drinken we, samen met een Nederlandse jongen die we in de bus hebben ontmoet, 'ricewine' met de lokale bevolking: 4 oudere mensen waarvan de oudste 86 jaar.Si Phan Don 06-03 In de minibus verlaten we Ban Lung en daarmee Cambodja, om naar Laos te gaan. Once upon a time, there was a shiny new big bus called "VIP", just like all the other buses of it's kind. However, they still called it a VIP bus and told it to continue it's very long and slow daily journey between Vientiane and Luang Prabang. ... Every day, new passengers climbed on board and the big bus heaved it's way over the mountains to Luang Prabang, 400 kilometers away. ... The best spring rolls we ever had, anytime, any country. Vientiane, as the capital of Laos, seems reasonably prosperous. ... But you peel back the proverbial onion (and sweep the dust out of your eyes) and the fundamental problems in Laos are illuminated, which leads to so many kids having to fend for themselves.The best spring rolls we ever had, anytime, any country. Feb 9, 2010 - Luverly Laos!
Feb 7th - got a really good nights sleep as were so tired! We then had a long but beautiful bus journey through the winding hills to Luang Prabang. ... Probably one of the most beautiful journeys we've had - and thats quite an achievement! We had to stop for a quick tyre change after getting a slow puncture but made it to Luang Prabang by about 5pm. ... We've been really lucky as most people always say they wish they'd spent more time here and only do Vientiane, Vang Vieng and Luang Prabang so to have covered what we have is pretty special. ...
