So from Vientiane we caught an overnight 'sleeper' bus to Pakse, and then from there caught another bus to a pier where a boat was waiting to take us to the island of Don Det. ... Oh what fun! After catching the rickety ferry across to the island of Don Det we proceeded to wander around for an hour or two in the noonday sun looking for a set of bungalows with the rare combination of a river view, a fan, and a low price. ... After dropping our stuff off at the hostel (unaware of the diabolical plan of the ants) we rented a couple bikes and set off to explore Don Det and its neighboring island of Don Khon. ... So after a REALLY long dusty, slow bus ride from ban lung in the ratanikiri province we changed from a local bus to a nice little air con minivan, only problem no air con!! Then a long wait for a ferry to cross a stretch of the Mekong i probably could have swam across and then another hours wait in the beaming sunshine and we were finally on our way to the Laos border. We were heading for one of the biggest islands called Don Det which is the biggest backpacker hang out. ... hi all, ive posted some pics from various places, not in order cause im running out of time and the internet is so time consuming over here, what with translation problems etc, but suffice to say i have had a wonderfull time, i will be sad indeed to leave this wonderfull and vibrant area, it has so much to offer and the people by and large i have found to be very friendly and mostly go out of their way to help.hi all, ive posted some pics from various places, not in order cause im running out of time and the internet is so time consuming over here, what with translation problems etc, but suffice to say i have had a wonderfull time, i will be sad indeed to leave this wonderfull and vibrant area, it has so much to offer and the people by and large i have found to be very friendly and mostly go out of their way to help....
