Dec 15, 2014 - 27 November - Eldoret, Kenya
Today we crossed back into Kenya and are staying at a campsite in Eldoret. We upgraded to a deluxe room as we are a bit over camping after 10 weeks! Lovely campsite but with lots of geese roaming free and pooping everywhere! Tonight we have an Indian meal organized - wonder what an African Indian meal will be like??? Tomorrow we have a fairly short drive to Nairobi and the end of the trip.Jump to full entry
Oct 8, 2011 - Jambo Kenya
The five am wake up calls are becoming routine now but not easier. We have a very long drive today plus an unpredictable border stop to make. Heat was in issue during the night last night in Jinja. We are headed to Eldoret, Kenya today. Between Jinja and the border the scenery is still lush and green with many villages along the road. The weather is quite warm as we travel the 281 km. As we neared the border, we noticed bus load after bus load of excited Kenyans hanging out of the windows cheering while waving their flags. Apparently Uganda...Jump to full entry
Mar 13, 2009 - Eldoret
Today was just a drive to get closer to where we want to go next - Uganda. We stopped at a fantastic campground, with beautifully landscaped gardens and a huge pool which we, of course, lounged around. Things are starting to come to a head as far as the travel company is concerned, but if it all goes bad Sarah and I will carry on anyway. I just hope for the sake of the other guys that it all comes together so we can continue as a group.Jump to full entry
Jan 23, 2009 - Eldoret
The only thing in Eldoret is a cheese factory, which has amazing cheese, but we didn't go there. Instead everyone wanted to hang at the posh resort and enjoy their upgrades. Dodge had the night off of making dinner, which was a bonus for me since it was my cook group day and we ate curry and naan at the resort.Jump to full entry
Sep 14, 2008 - An early morning game drive with white rhinos
We were up early this morning to learn how to put the tents down properly! It was still dark when we got up (5-30am) but we were excited about the early morning game drive! After getting the tents down, having breakfast and packing everything into the truck we were out earlier than the 7am deadline so we were all chuffed! We went up one of the cliffs on the game drive and got some great shots over the lake. We then drove through more of the park where we were really lucky to see a family of white rhinos. There was a Mum, Dad and baby and we...Jump to full entry
Sep 8, 2006 - Eldoret - 'Best Showers in Africa'
Drove to Eldoret where most of the Kenyan runners are from. Pretty rainy all day so the majority of us decided to go into a dorm room (Ed and Sarah B stayed in a tent). We booked into a place called Raj's. Owned by an indian multi millionaire who wanted to meet people and built a campsite. He manufactures all the Maasi blankets. He has built a stunning campsite and so far the bar is not complete. Only taken two years to build. He also has the best showers in Africa so far. No tent today so got showered and went to the bar. Quite cold as up...Jump to full entry

Dec 21, 2004 - Helen ...
Helen is afgelopen vrijdag geopereerd. Helen is nu dus thuis. Ze is daar erg blij om, want in het ziekenhuis liggen was geen pretje vertelde ze. Ze kan nu thuis verder aansterken. Volgens de arts was dat ook beter dan in het ziekenhuis. Helen (haar hele familie!!)...Jump to full entry
Aug 20, 2004 - Africa Days 3-4 - Lake Nakuru, Eldoret, Jinja and Kampala
This morning I woke up early and was treated to all the sounds of the African animals waking up around me. It was such a great experience, listening to all the calls of the animals. We had plenty of baboons near us, which you could hear playing and fighting in the nearby trees. We all got up at about 6am and after a quick light breakfast of fruit and scones we packed up our camp and went on an early morning game drive all hoping to see some big cats and maybe even a kill, but not to be so. After driving around, we stopped at a lookout for...Jump to full entry
