They were excited at Villa Giglio to see us return. We were glad to be in a familiar place to pack up our bikes, take care of a few last minute errands, be able to follow the SF Giants in the World Series with our iGadget (thank you Howard, you have no idea how much the iGadget meant) and eat a tasty final meal at a restaurant where the owner of our guesthouse is the head chef. Sep 14, 2010 - Lake district test ride

"Guess what, we are very near the Swiss border. Let's cycle over there for lunch on our test ride" Tomas suggested and Julia, still a bit sleepy agreed. It should have been a 40-50 km ride round trip. After getting lost at least 4 times, going in (hilly) circles at least twice and generally getting a bit frustrated, we ended up doing 100 km (62 miles). Sep 13, 2010 - Santa Cruz to Milan, Italy

Getting two bikes, in boxes, 4 panniers, two handlebar bags and two camelbaks from Santa Cruz to SFO without using a personal car is as daunting as it sounds. A day prior, we transported the bikes to Julia sister's (Paige) place in SF. Our good friend Allen Peck drove us to Paige's on our departure day and after a few farewells, a large taxi showed up to transport the lot to SFO.
