We awoke to a clear, bright day with a beautiful, red sunrise. We walked to the bus depot through a park and along a moat that surrounded some of Verona to catch the bus to Lake Garda. It is about 20 miles West of Verona & is about 32 miles long and 10 miles wide at it’s widest and is tucked into the south side of the Alps. The widest part, in the south, lies in the Venetian Plains. We headed to the head of the lake, in the north, to Riva Del Garda residing under one of the peaks. The Venetian Plain is one of the main breadbaskets of Italy....

Jun 19, 2006 - Lake Garda - Riva del Garda

Hooray - I am at Lake Garda and have caught up with Austin. Won't go into the details about how I actually got here a day late (I was totally oblivious to the date stuff up) and he was getting really worried. Anyway, there is champagne cooling in the room and tons of fruit when I arrive ! The hotel is excellent, has great views of the terraced valley, fields amd olive terraces and is set back from the main street. I love the pool and the gazebo which we make our own. Riva has a real holiday atmosphere and is definitely a place I am coming...
