Sunday 5th April. After a restless night Norah took us straight to the centre of Tivoli where we followed the signs to Villa Este that at the town square disappeared but were replaced by the signs for Villa Adriana which was the other place we intended to visit so we followed them. Reading Italian signs is obviously an art we still have not yet mastered as once again we got lost. Luckily our guide book supplied Nora with an address and guess what, she got lost. May 3, 2007 - Cycling in Umbria

Umbria in one word, WOW! Wow scenery, wow food, wow wine, wow friendly people, wow sore butt from bike, wow can it rain! First stop after Venice was Perugia, a walled hill top city and the capital of Umbria. It is a great city, beautiful views over the country side, some great shopping and the place where we experienced one of the best meals we have ever had. Apr 20, 2007 - Around the Fucino plain

I'm becoming lazy about my trip journal because we have not had an internet connection to update the web version. So it's time to bring it up to date. On Friday, we first found the 'museo prehistorica' near Paterno on the edge of the Fucino plain, where an ancient burial ground (necropolis) was discovered during the construction of a sports ground. The graves belong to the people who lived by Lake Fucino before the Romans. The museum has very good displays of the grave goods and the layout of the necropolis, which has been covered up...
