Jul 11, 2018 - Maranello. Pagani, Ferrari and Maserati

Our first full day in Maranello started with breakfast at the Ferrari Village where we are staying before a short drive to see the new Pagani museum and factory. What a change since we were last here 5 years ago. Very impressive. We then drove over to the Enzo Ferrari museum where we had a fabulous lunch before touring the museum and engine display. We then finished the day with a tour of a cheese factory with a Maserati museum attached. Now back in the room with a glass of wine catching up on 10 days of posts.

Jul 10, 2018 - Montpellier to Maranello

Today was a big driving day. We left before 7 and headed towards Cannes where there was a Bentley dealer to hopefully look at the new warning lights and balance the front tires that had developed a bit of a vibration. Ash used all of her school French and got us booked in. We arrived in Cannes at 10:30 and they plugged in the computer and diagnosed a faulty exhaust temperature sensor. They could fix this and the tires but it would take all day, so we had an unexpected day to ourselves in Cannes. After a pleasant lunch we had a wonder...

Jun 28, 2013 - Maranello: Who else? Ferrari...

Today was the day the whole trip had been planned around - a tour round the factory. This was a huge deal as it is only open to owners, and spaces are limited, so we felt extremely lucky to get a space. Once we found the factory and got parked we were taken inside and given an overview of what we would see over the next 2.5 - 3 hours. Big grins all around! We started off in the machine shop where the rough castings from the foundry are machined down to spec. The whole facility is leading edge with lots of natural light as well as trees and...

Jun 27, 2013 - Modena: Maserati & Pagani factory tours

Thursday was one of the highlight days we had planned, with factory tours booked for Maserati (we got Graham in as well) and Pagani. After a nice breakfast at the hotel we all headed out to Modena again and arrived at the Maserati factory. Graham got turned away in his Audi S4 and had to park in an outside carpark, but as we were in a Fiat family vehicle we were allowed to drive through the gates and park right outside the main showroom / reception area. Very cool... As with Ducati & Pagani, no pictures were allowed in the factory, so these...

Jun 26, 2013 - Modena: Ducati factory tour. Lamborghini museum

Today starts with a 6:30 alarm call. We have to be in Bologna for a factory tour of Ducati at 11am. Not 11:05. 11:00. So we aim to leave at 7:30 which should give us plenty of time to get there, get parked and present ourselves at reception. Or so the plan went... Except we were 10 min late leaving the hotel, and then took a wrong turn in the middle of Genoa during rush hour. This resulted in at least a 20 min delay, which meant our timeline was now looking very tight. But we are in a Ferrari in Italy, so we put the pedal to the metal and...

Sep 26, 2007 - Maranello (home of Ferrari)

Wednesday, September 26th, 2008 Ferrari Day! Yeah for Tim and Noah! This is Tim: Since the excursion to Maranello was my idea, I'll tell you a little about this day. We drove through the lovely city of Modena on our way to Maranello to visit Ferrari. As we approached Maranello, I must say I found my pulse begin to quicken. Just as you enter the city, the Ferrari test track is on the right (chivers) and just down on the left is the main factory. There is a crosswalk across the narrow road where staff and factory workers (in their great red...
