Took hydro jet to Ischia for 18.50 euros. Abit of rain this morning, so I waited at a cafe on the dock and had a coffee and pastry. Once I arrived in Ischia I took the bus to the other side(Forio Port) and walked up to The Ring Hostel. This hostel was an old convent back in the day an is now ran by 3 Italian brothers who also own a restaurant and another hotel. May 27, 2008 - Arriving in Naples/Ischia

I arrived in Naples safely. It is absolutely the scariest place I have ever encountered. So glad my time there was limited! There is a sense of desperation and anger like I’ve never felt anywhere before. Unemployment, crime, and poverty are huge problems and the Mafia is deep-seated. I was very scared during the excursion around Naples – the traffic is beyond frightening! May 26, 2008 - interim report

Greetings from Italy! This is an "interim" report. The hotel does not have internet access, so I have been writing my entries on my laptop. I saved them to a thumb drive to upload at the internet cafe; however, the Italian version of Word XP will not recognize the files. So I am going to try and figure a few other ways to save the files and post later.
