May 24, 2016 - Deiva Marina to Ameglia

Day 5 Deiva Marina - Ameglia Last night I was woken by a dog that seemed to enjoy barking at 3:30 in the morning and continued until about 5:00. Why it didn't lose its voice I will never know. A number of people next morning would have happily had it shot. Also around about this time a light rain began to fall intermittently. As is to be expected it got heavier as the morning approached although it did stop before I had to get up. The morning remained dry while we had breakfast and packed tents and bags but, just as we were about to leave,...

May 22, 2016 - Genoa Nervi - Deiva Marina

Day 4 Nervi to Deiva Marina It is so nice to be back in the Bike Dreams 'family'. After an early breakfast we packed the support vehicles and then the whole group, riders and crew, made their way to the beachfront for the obligatory group photo. I left my camera to have a photo made but the operator failed and there was no result. We returned briefly to the hotel to give the support vehicles ahead start. Because the day is so short and the roads are so narrow there is a concern that the faster riders will beat the lunch truck if we don't...

Jun 23, 2013 - Day 2 in Cinque Terre

Day 4 Any: Waves crashing on the shore was our alarm clock this morning! It was a little dark and gloomy out but we were dressed and ready to explore by 7:30 am. The Borbollas joined us for an outstanding breakfast downstairs at our hotel. Afterwards we headed out. The train ride south towards La Spezia was great. We had first class seats and enjoyed the views. Upon arriving in Spezia we hailed a taxi. We were then on our way through the winding roads towards our destination of the day, Portovenere! Arriving in the main piazza, we met up...

Jun 22, 2013 - Day one in Cinque Terre

Day 3 Any: The boys went to rent a van. The day began early and with a hitch, as we were eager to see Cinque Terre! (Hitch: GPS would not register here, it kept thinking it was still in Poughkeepsie, NY)! Lmao The boys went back to rent an Italian GPS! Luis: Wouldn't you know it as soon as I returned with the Italian GPS, our GPS started working. I went back to return the Italian GPS. Finally on the road, we had a 3 hr drive ahead of us. Time flew and after a short sandwich break (we stopped at a service plaza, bought a loaf of bread some...

Jul 1, 2007 - Florence & Deiva Marina

HAPPY CANADA DAY EVERYONE! Before heading out on the town, we packed up our bags (which was easy because we didn't sleep in the tent that night) and locked up our bags in the lockers located at the campsite. Instead of the bus, we saved some money and took the 30 minute downhill hike through the city to the local attractions. The fist thing we saw the Uffizi, a palace which now oprates as an art museum. It was pretty nice from the outside since we didn't go in. Then we walked by the Duomo (cathedrale di Santa Maria Del fioro). In 1926, the...
