Dear Max I have been on a ski-trip this weekend. I flew from London to Geneva in Switzerland then I hired a car and drove through France, to Courmayeur in Italy. It didn’t take too long, only just over an hour. We had to drive through the Mont Blanc tunnel which cost lots of money but it was very exciting - it was very long. I sent you a postcard so you should receive that in a few days time. Here are my photos first though. Ciao, Navy

Sep 14, 2011 - Tour du Mont Blanc

On Wednesday, we decided to try a route suggested by the owner of our hotel. We were to take the bus up the Val Ferret until the end of the route, then we could choose whether to go to the Refugio Bonatti or the Refugio Bertone. depending on how far the bus took us.  We really wanted to go to Bonatti, so we asked the bus driver how far up the road we needed to walk to get to that trail.  He said it was only 2 km, so off we went.  Well, it was an awfully LONG 2 km.  We finally found a good trail and headed away from the road.  The path was...

Adventures in France

Jul 14, 2009 - Courmayeur, Italy

This is the second year in a row that I have gone to Courmayeur, Italy, located in the Italian Alps, for the Zephyr Chamber Music Festival. This is associated loosely with the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. The festival is a summer music camp for graduate level students in classical music. They arrive here from all over the world and practice foe 4 weeks and then do a series of concerts in local churches and city squares for the following ten days.
