Sept.25 Walking on a hot sunny day through the pretty hillside vineyards of the Veneto- does it get any better? This is ancient wine country. They say deeds on the aziendas date back to the year 1000 here. The Vespaiolo grape is famous , valpolocella Cabernet is delicious (or so we've heard......) and they make a sweet light dessert wine vin santo from air-dried grapes called Torcolato...mmm. Truth is we find ourself at a big Cantina that sells these and are offered tastings at 9:30 in the matina before our walk today. The cheese market...

Sep 24, 2017 - Open season in the Breganze hills

Sept.24 We have a little rain this morning over the hills today's hike, so our lovely Sri Lankan hotel manager ( today dressed in his high collared white jacket to bring us fresh croissants) is giggling as he helps us into our trusty rain ponchos , then offers to give us umbrellas to take with us! We decline- we always have good luck with rain, and sure enough, off they come in half an hour when the sun breaks through.
