May 15, 2012 - More Bolsena before moving on
May 15 – Bolsena, Italy We did our own group walking tour of the little town of Bolsena. We went into the St. Christina church and UP many steps to see the outside of the castle on the hill above town. This church was unusual because in rather recent times they discovered some catacombs next to the church, in the hillside, so of course they expanded the church to include them. May 14, 2012 - Bolsena, Italy
May 14 – to Lake Bolsena, Italy Dieter helped us extricate ourselves from the olive trees only to face making a left turn from a very steep driveway up onto the busy street. A real test of our ability to use the clutch and not kill the engine or slip backwards! By the way, our Fiat engines are really good and the gears are very forgiving. We all feel comfortable driving our rigs. The coach part, however, has some design flaws but we can live with them for a month or so. (Do miss our own campervan!) May 11, 2007 - Ah..Tuscany!
Today we are leaving Florence and going into Tuscany and staying at Castello di Velona for 3 nights. The hotel is in on the outskirts of Montalcino so it would make sense to stop in Siena for lunch and see the town before moving on. We checked out and picked up our car at Avis and I anxiously waited to see what kind of car we got and when the car drove up, I literally giggled with glee! It was a little blue Fiat Panda and it was the cutest little thing!!! It had a tiny trunk so we had to fold down the seat to put in our luggage. LJ checked...Jump to full entry
